Well i would imagine when we are all in vans the idea may be to plan your delivery to enable delivery inside the existing spec.clashcityrocker wrote:I assume some of those specials will already be on the vans because of their size.fishtank wrote:Can't comment on Jenny's office but mine.... 300-400 reg on the vans.POSTMAN wrote:Jenny, your rep is a twat.
Moving on,why haven't you lot got the reg on the vans, that is why we have the PDA's....Now that would be some achievement.
If /When we move to later deliveries the spec isn't going to change.
Either we change the way we do them or we end up failing more than we currently do, and management have to accept the consequent compensation payouts and potential loss of business.

Some of us are months/years away from that Utopia.
It can't be that difficult for the numpties to find a solution to the problem.
Remember when SD's were the jewel in the crown. Cheaper and more efficient than any of our competitors.
If you need an example of how s**t our managers really are, then SD's are a prime example.

Re: Phone in to Confirm your Specials (UPDATE)
You are spot on ft, rural van drivers and park and loopers are told to break off and deliver within spec OR ELSE - walkers can get away with leaving an odd one in, we would have about 300 per day and of those about 5/6 would be left for someone to do on a special visit.fishtank wrote:Well i would imagine when we are all in vans the idea may be to plan your delivery to enable delivery inside the existing spec.clashcityrocker wrote:I assume some of those specials will already be on the vans because of their size.fishtank wrote:Can't comment on Jenny's office but mine.... 300-400 reg on the vans.POSTMAN wrote:Jenny, your rep is a twat.

The answer would be individual PDAs for all delivery officers, however we don't have enough to cover the Bulks, Rural Vans and Park and loopers and it is very difficult to get the tracked covered and so some specials are still on the 4550.
I just wonder how long it will be before we get the "tools for the job". There is supposed to be an amendment to the delivery spec but when that will be..................

We are stuck in the middle of an industrial estate so there really is no other option.
Customers just love picking up their stuff from the middle of nowhere especially the pensioners.
There is nothing like a stroll through an industrial estate with your zimmer frame,it's probably RMs vision of the future.

Actually ccr - it's 1020 for 9 o clock specials and 1420 for 1300 specials.clashcityrocker wrote:Because if the information isn't back by 1.30 then the item shows up as a failure in the system.NewPostieUK wrote:I have an LG and I'm not going to take a £13 phone out of my pocket. . . for anyone.
I still can't get my head round this. Why 'confirm' or otherwise, at all? Why can't they just see what's been delivered and what hasn't when you get back to the office?

Re: Phone in to Confirm your Specials (UPDATE)
They should supply PDAs then. Firstly, no need to confirm anything as all signed off on PDA and secondly, you can use the PDA to call your office (via the allowed freephone number and entering the office code).

Well that would be great, if you're in an office with 10 staff and 10 PDAs April - not quite so simple when there is 100+ deliveries and 25 PDAsAprilaydee wrote:They should supply PDAs then. Re: Phone in to Confirm your Specials
Well yes and no, you may be finished your delivery and back at the office by 1410 and therefore hand in the confirmation slip and any returned specials, but not by 1330 and no failure would have occurred. Some offices have a tendency to confirm all specials as delivered at 1330 in order to make the deadline.clashcityrocker wrote:I stand corrected.dvbuk55 wrote:

And for those offices like ours, where nobody returns to the office, they just confirm it as delivered.clashcityrocker wrote:

That's my point! If they want you to do all this stuff, then they need to provide TFTJ i.e. PDAs or another communication device (star trek communicators maybe and then we can also beam ourselves back to the D.O...)

Re: Phone in to Confirm your Specials (UPDATE)
Just realised we've got 2 fecking threads on this, was there any need?
Moving on from my moan,if i had to work in some of your offices i'd have to leave the job ffs.
Why the hell are the walkers still doing specials when there are PDA's for the vans, and why are you phoning or not phoning them as the case may be in ffs!
Specials should be on the vans end of,that's why the company invested the millions it did on the PDA's!
SDD should of sorted this as well.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
