You guys and others in your office need to start cutting off,it's the only way to get their attention.
Noticed i said 'and others in your office',safety in numbers and you need to stick together.

Oh and proverbial question alert, where's the rep in all this?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

There are 2 posties out of about 80 in our office who fetch it back refusing o/t for these reasons. I'll be the 3rd on Monday because I've had enough. Lots of others make the usual noises most mornings about bringing it back and some do occasionaly but most don't. I don't even need the o/t ffs! I certainly don't need this fckn hassle every day. Like an earlier poster said, it's affecting my homelife.I actualy care about the people on my round getting their post thats why I do the o/t. But someone else can care about them from now on.There's one daft sod in our office that'll do all the o/t going, he'll stay out till 8.00 at night (really this regularly happens!)sweeping up all the odd bits, bring backs, sickness etc. Needless to say, he crossed the line when we were on strike.
Unfotunately our rep isn't the strongest character.

Have a work to rule then lets see how the office copes sometimes you have to fight fire with fire.

Our rep makes all the right noises and is seen to be there for the workers..but in truth he`s well in with the Dom and has a cushy Job so he tends not to follow through with his threats..so much for the union...

im still undecided as to what is the best course of action..also there really is no people power in our office..i dont know of any that take breaks (apart from PHG and DOMS !!) and NOBODY ever cuts off !! ..if you moan about things you`re almost seen as a trouble maker .. I cant ever see a way of sorting things out...people outside of RM cannot understand the concept of working for nothing..but also have no idea how difficult it really is to fight your corner

Clash if everybody stopped doing O/T for a short period of time R/M would then realise that the boys are not trying to pull the wool over there eyes when it comes to working over.

DOMS want a clear office policy but question a grown mans integrity when it comes to paying him for work he has done over his contracted hours. May be you or many others dont mind having there integrity put into question for working your balls off but i do and the majority of lads in the office i work do.

Clash do you think we can have a clear office policy without booking O/T because i dont ,this would then prove to R/M the lengths posties go to in achieving a clear office .
DOMS would be getting there bums kicked everyday by there bosses and the bosses above them a chain reaction of bum kicking shall i say. I believe it would stop R/M in questioning ,delaying O/T payments. Cant see why you thought my original comment was unfortunate to come from me. Sometimes the oppressed must make a stand to defend themselves.

If you have any suggestions in stopping R/MS tactis when it comes to the paying of O/T and the manner in which posties are questioned over O/T im more than happy to listen.

People wont stick together..they are too scared of losing their jobs (can`t blame them) but if we all did things would change for the better and quite quickly ...I may take a stand tomorrow and ask for a grievance form .. then inform DOM my mail is coming back

It might be a good idea to hold on to it.
You never know when frustration might get too strong and I've always been really really tempted.

FLUFFY wrote:Totally agree with all these posts...Its really getting me down to the point I may go sick with stress..its really affecting my home life..Im actually owed over 15 hours overtime ( over a 3 week period) and its going up every day..would be alot more if I included breaks ..pouching off etc etc..was promised what was owed last week but only got paid 2 !!! cant tell you how unhappy I am..I hate these lazy lying Doms..but like others on here im too scared to rock the boat..

And that's the crux of a lot of posts regarding RM Management.

To actually 'beat' , bully people so that this state occurs is shameful.

If you have a Union Rep (and are in the Union of course) then they should help you.

This is not acceptable.

If , you can face it, then you must confront your DOM over this issue. Take someone with you that you believe will be able to stand your corner ; if you can't.

Good luck

Fluffy is this issue is effecting you in the manner which you have described and you are fearful of rocking the boat consult with your rep asap, thats what hes there for.

You have tried to resolves the issue on your own and failed so now its your reps responseability to resolve the matter for you.

Have you rung the B/H line have you considered putting in a grieveance have you thought of ringing your branch and having a chat with your area rep.

Dont suffer in silence mate stand up for what you are owed and try not let it effect your home life ,but speak to your rep first this is unacceptable behaviour by the idiotic dim witted doms they have no rite to treat you in this manner.

Let us know the outcome mate .

Don,t fall for the old "such n suchabody never books", as away of bullying you to doing o/t.They tried that bollocks with me,and i cud never work out how suchabody managed to complete on time while i,m going an hour over.Turns out he was right, they never book. But they do work it.Un-f***ing-believable.Work your 8 hrs, everyday, and trust me, once he realises you aint gonna cave,he,ll leave u alone and move on to the next target.BULLYS ONLY TARGET PEOPLE WHO THEY DEEM EASY TARGETS!Don,t make it easy for the spineless f***ers.Same advice to anyone feeling bullied.Once you stand ur ground, life at work gets so much easier.
