and just tell them you want to stop your CWU subscription.

Took 2 mins.

Job done.
you and the tories will make good bed fellows. minimum wage , statuary sick pay, it will all be coming your way. p s give your 400 quid back, cause you,ll get jack s**t like that without a union.
Actually I was due it anyway as part of the RM initiated colleague share scheme.

Oh...you thought it was negotiated by the union as part of the pay deal? :left:
Lol! Hahaha!!!

Quite right!

Your £400 bribe just replaces colleague share money(phantom shares) which was the brainchild of a certain Alan Leighton. Interestingly, the union campaigned vehemently against the staff receiving these shares but fortunately failed there as well. For confirmation of this just "Ask Alan"!

Too True, in reality there is very little new money on offer here, even the 2 payments of £560 are from the shares, The £1000 will be I imagine funded out of the savings made by the revisions which activate the payment. All the CWU has done is guarantee the money at these figures now, would RM fail to pay out on the shares when it came to it, Hmmm, I wonder!! Perhaps I am being too cynical?!!

Yes you are! Give them the benefit of the doubt like I always do, have they not always abided by agreements - why take the recent payment for election material - have they not paid out without any hassle - well no they haven't.

Unless you are gifted with the power of second sight that is not a statement you are qualified or have the knowledge to make.
Most workers are having there wages cut or there jobs going completly
,

Factually incorrect , utter nonsense
failure to agree some sort of deal would have RM imposing a deal. That is all the crap bits and all the positve things left out.
Last time they did that there was a national strike, remember?
Lets bury this DTD once and for all, RM where about to re brand the whole thing and dispense with the D2T service.

Oh yeah , what give up one of their most profitable lines or again risk a national strike by removing payment, not likely when you think about it is it?
I do not like it but its the best of a bad deal the world has changed and will change even more in the enxt few years.

Patronising and banal , or have you just discovered the world changes around you
Walking away from the Union will achieve what exactly ?

Weaken it for all of us

Give mangement an easy time
:Applause Well said

Get real ,
You do tend to be patronising.
unity is strength and without the union we would have been sunk years ago :mfo
:Applause Very true ,but then again with people writing stuff like the above and in that tone, it comes as no surprise that members resign.
Might be nice to have dignity and respect in the union as well?

Sorry I have not answered, but I have been away a few days

Sorry if I appear patronising, I do not mean to be I just get really annoyed with the whole situation and many on here tend to be so far out of step with reality at times. The deal was perhaps the only one available and with an election apporaching we needed to get something in place quickly, RM can and will have a relative time of peace and stability, time to adjust to new challenges for all of us.

I am as my name implies at the end of the road, I still feel we can and have to get whatever we can deal wise for those left and we need to be strong now because the incoming government administration will looking of ways to raise funds. Selling off RM or at least cutting it away from further Government handouts will be real attractive and lets not forget the pension.

The deal was a whole lot more then DTD issues, we need to win the battles of the next few years. The minor skirmishes with local management hell bent in amending/altering the agreement. We have to be on top of the game and all singing from the same hymnsheet, its not going to be easy but upto to now we have done reasonably well COMPARED TO OTHERS.............

COAL BOARD
ELECTRIC WORKERS
BRITISH RAIL
WATERBOARDS
BRITISH GAS
BRITSH TELECOM
BRITISH AEROSPACE
NATIONAL BUSES
COUNCIL BUSES
GIRO BANK

KEEP THE FAITH COMRADE

Well one thing that the electricity boards union did prior to privatisation was get into bed with the management, certainly the one I worked for.

For some years prior to privatisation the management kept coming to the workforce for more and more production, changing this, changing that and the union kept the peace by agreeing to anything, all to no avail of course, privatisation came, the workforce was decimated, the service much reduced, prices have risen year on year since.

If the union make it easy for RM and they have then the writing is already on the wall.

Lets take a reckless wild stab in the dark :chuckle Heres a challenge ,not done the "math' and probably too far out to "Get Real" but I'll wager anyone can check out the average wage of those concerns listed and if the average posties wage exceeds half the average wage in any of the above ,I'll eat humble pie :chuckle

It may well do :Very Happy

But there are many less people working for them and the staff left are under imense pressure to perform miracles. In RM we have excepted low wages and kept high overtime levels, it would be oh so easy for TNT to bring us inline with there current wage structure. Which is the minimum wage

Those companies also use a large number of contract labour on short contracts, railway maintenance is performed by many different companies under contract to Network rail. Jervis rail has just recently gone bust a victim of a contracting industry squeeeze under bidding for jobs and then failing to get the contract price increased later.

: RM TO ANNOUNCE PAY FREEZE
by End of the road » Sat Apr 25, 2009 2:29,pm

It went down well in our office as well.................

The bloody shift manager was winding everyone up all day with cheap jibes, he thought it was funny. I DO NOT WISH TO LAY DOWN AND TAKE THIS CRAP OFF THESE HALFWITS, we need to be more together then we ever have been to beat them. A strike is not going to work and getting support for such action is going to be difficult, if not near impossible to many comrades have not heart for it. A work to rule would on the other hand screw the whole business up in a matter of days. Some one goes sick or they lift some twot to acting manager we leave the duty empty and refuse O/T. This is going to hurt losing the O/T, but its been going down and down anyway, this way everyone keeps there core pay.

Comrades have to realise that without our good will and willingness to serve the public, the whole system grinds to a halt as those in charge have neither the collective brainpower to deal with it or the support from senior managers.

If we lay down and except this pay freeze we may as well burn our union cards and adopt fore lock tugging

ooops did you forget this

Weird though ,one day folks post one thing ,the next they are lifelong believers in the exact opposite. The curse of the mental flip flop brigade I guess. Nothing like having conviction and clarity of vision :chuckle

That is the biggest danger to the CWU - Apathy is far more destructive than membership reduction (unless of course it reaches the point of de-recognition) as RM can still use the excuse of talking with and gaining agreements with the CWU.

Apathy is already here - in the workplace people don't even question the changes anymore, they accept whatever is put before them as a fait accompli. They are so used to being ignored, ill-advised and under represented that they now believe that is the normal state of affairs

Im just wondering when TNT take over in the near future will the CWU recommend we take a pay cut to minimum wage, bringing us in line with our dutch counterparts, spouting the same reasoning behind 2010 and Beyond (i.e. supposed falling volumes, TNT wanting part time hours etc etc) to protect full time jobs?

If the CWU recommend it you won't be reading it then, will you? :whistle
