Absolute rubbish.hugo3210 wrote:can I also add to ignorant people that the deal we have received is actually a great one. compare us to others in similar jobs - now no job compares exactly to us posties, but compare us to others such as waiters, shop assistants, warehousemen and labourers on building sites, i think we have excellent pay and conditions, and lets be honest, we dont get worked THAT hard.
if you wanted to know more about D2D and mailshots you can find out very easily, no point making wild assumptions about what it is and isnt.
you need to remember we are losing revenue every year. accounts do NOT lie, they are audited by independent accountants every year. bottom line is revenue is falling. not just in the UK, but in every major country across the world - including USA, Germany and France. people are using email and internet more. think about it, you get your bills, statements and even airline tickets via email now. multiply that across all the peiople in the country and you have a significant drop in posted lettersplus, downstream access is taking away further mail from us. yes we are carrying more packets, but there are plenty of competitors in this market.
bottom line is thinks like D2D are there to generate more revenue and hence keep us in jobs. so dont complain about the extra work, be glad the extra work is going to pay our wages every week.
we need to stop this bickering, infighting, moaning and complaining. we work for a great organisation and we have some fantastic people who have a great laugh together in the canteen and in the sorting offices and MCs across the country. if you dont like it, why dont you leave? we know why, because there is no better alternative. would you rather work on a building site or tesco and get treated like dirt, or would you rather get the respect of the public when they see us in our uniform. i for one know most people on my rounds and have great relationships with them. i wouldnt change it for the world.
rant over!
This piss-poor deal is absolutely no good whatsoever if you're a front-line worker.
As for the Tories privatising what's left of this public service, so what? It's already a privatised company in all but name, just look at the state of our jobs after almost a decade of Labour and the bosses it hires for RM chasing profits at the expense of providing a quality publicly funded service.
You couldn't pay me to tell lies as to what a good union the CWU is, and what a boon for the working man and woman it's been having "Hard Labour" in power these last 13 years.
