I think dv's had too much to drink lol.

Anyway,i have been involved in 3 'table top' revisions at my place.
I'm guessing it's the same everywhere but here you go...

You get the rep and a few bods who know all the walks and you restructure the duties.
For instance if your cuts are 40hrs then you have to move and shake parts of walks around so you lose one of them.
Add a bit here add a bit there ect, well that's how we done it at our place anyway.
And, no don't tell me, you all sit round a table and come up with a revision that has never been tested on the ground. That was exactly what a WSE did and he put forward proposals that had never been tested and he may or may not have had any experience of the work he was testing.

It will be a case of tweaking what we already have I think.

Are you sure?
You see RM say walk sequenced mail saves 20mins per duty and they say the D2D will come in one sleeve and they also say that the mail is declining and we all finish 2 hours before we should.
So your typo may be closer to the truth in your managers eyes anyway.
Make no mistake these revisions will strip hours from your office.
They may not be based on financial budgets.
But the performance standards, both indoor and outdoor will dictate how many hours your office needs.
And therefore how many duties will ultimately stay......or go. :nervous

Planners :hmmmm

I was told yesterday that my D.O might not be having a planner and it will just be myself and the DOM.

No you won't because the DOM will find a way to sack two people.
Attendance procedure, wilful delay, D2D spec, wrong shoes, wrong tie etc etc

What you mean is - you haven't seen anyone sacked for not wearing the correct uniform.
RM issue shoes or a Dr's note.
The point is - if they want to find a way to get rid of 2 people, they will.
And 2 posties in my office still wear ties.

Must be old school posties eh.

I'll get a Dr's note no problem if the gaffer asks me to, but I know he wont.

In fact Saturday gone I returned my cat trainers in their box, gave them to him and told him he could do what he wants with them as they're no good to me, wore them for 5 days and all they did was make my feet blister, even with heel supports.

I'll stick to my Nikes, much more comfy and they grip like a mofo.

You cant put a price on comfort when youre walking for 3.5 hours.

I dont know to be honest, I need to speak to the DOM to try and get a understanding of the motives and reasoning of his superiors. The info I was given Saturday about those motives has left me :confused and :hmmmm

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Work Study Engineer - later called time and motion - Royal Mail call them planners these days - they wander into a workplace and look totally uncomfortable wandering around with a laptop in a bag, find a place to park their bum and proceed to surf ebay .......................

I like the "engineer" bit. Almost as good as the often-quoted "vision engineer" for window cleaner.... :left:
