JUST A QUICK QUESTION ARE WE ENTITLED TO A PAYMENT FOR POLL CARDS ?

HOW DO I GO ABOUT GETTING A PAYMENT FOR THE POLL CARDS WHEN MY AREA REP TELLS ME NOBODY HAS BEEN PAID FOR THEM. THANKS.

Its fairly straight forward you get your area rep to inform CWU Headquarters who will take it up with the relavant person. When this has been done then its has normally been paid. What Royal Mail have stated is that where an office last time got paid for downstream access polling cards they will honour that. Its easy to confirm as it is on pay roll. Plus there was hardly any DSA at the last election.

And if they didn't they wont?
Is this acceptable to HQ?
This is a national agreement dingo and it looks like Royal Mail are to be allowed to interpret it as they see fit.

Hold up fishtank lets get real the agreement talks about free election material, some boroughs used to to deliver their own polling cards and we never got paid for them. Now for the first time the parties are using downstream access, the agreement when it was negotiated never took into account this as it was not around at the last general election.

So we now have loads of boroughs posting polling cards by downstream access and paying the necessary price but of course now a lot of areas are quite rightly saying they want an extra payment for delivering election material and some of Royal Mail are now saying well you dont get an extra payment for normal downstream access and that the postage has been paid.

The Union has argued back and used the agreement and have now managed to convince Royal Mail to pay and all the areas which have been raised have now been paid. There is other election material which has either come in as door to door or DSA and arguments have been going on and in the main most areas have been paid.

Is it ideal no. But lets face it when the agreement was agreed there was no such thing as downstream access.

That dingo is not what the agreement says and you know it. Fairly straightfoward? Does the agreement state that people should be paid or not - THAT is straight forward.
