Re: what branches voted NO!!
I believe the question was "What branches voted NO!!" Not what group of members voted no? Still its good to see how the CWU HQ can use propaganda to get a different message across and can look at voting patterns in different areas to achieve what they want in any given vote! The branches that recommened NO will get "very special consideration" next time because HQ cant have them singing off of a different hymn sheet can they.dingo wrote:The members in Kent Invicta voted yes to the agreement and against their Branch`s recommendation. Re: what branches voted NO!!
Your right the question was what branch s voted no. But Branch"s dont vote they only recommend to the members.
Now if the Branch"s truly was in tune with their members then they would get a majority of the Branch membership voting in line with the Branch recommendation.
Kent Invicta , Bristol and District and North Lancs and Cumbria all recommended no but the members within their Branch voted yes.
Now thats the facts. Imagine the reaction on this site if a Branch who recommended a yes and the members voted No.
Look I would be embarassed if I was on the Branch committee and we recommended to the members to vote either yes and no and the members didt listen.

Re: what branches voted NO!!
people voted yes for all maner of reasons, not just because they thought it was a good deal.
a lot of people i think voted yes because of fear,no plan b and all the other crap the union top brass shoved down their throats.
the fact that only half the members balloted could be bothered to vote tells its own tale.

Re: what branches voted NO!!
Well I am on my Branch committee and we recommended NO and spoke to our members here, and I am not embarrassed that a yes vote went through just saddened! Still my future is not on PEC or above mine is with the people i stood on the picket line with and that is the UNION not our so called self styled LEADERS that control us with the information they give us gather use and act accordingly to secure the result they wish. The digital age is well and truly with us but resistance is growing as is knowledge and all I can say to other members that wish to leave the CWU is learn from “our” mistakes and take back control of our Union from the politicians.Did say that about Pompey i think?dingo wrote:Your right the question was what branch s voted no. Have to say that’s not true when the branch go to a CWU road show! Went to Brighton last year and i would think you were there as well? We were never told they wanted a vote for strike to prop up the 2007 crap although with hindsight the reason HQ gave us to ask for a ballot was very telling as they even gave us the wording in-fact you gave it to me by email! (they also didn’t say it was not!) in-fact looking back we were played as normal members and were told what we wanted to hear and the s**t was left out!Now if the Branch’s truly was in tune with their members then they would get a majority of the Branch membership voting in line with the Branch recommendation.
You yourself have said what’s the alternative have you not? So therefore saw no alternative and thus sold it to your own membership as such although i am pleased you could not get your own membership to agree with your stance and at least one area bucked the trend.Kent Invicta , Bristol and District and North Lancs and Cumbria all recommended no but the members within their Branch voted yes.
.Now that’s the facts. Imagine the reaction on this site if a Branch who recommended a yes and the members voted No
WHY would that be a problem? Alls it would mean is the branch needs to get in step with the membership and if they are not start talking to the membership and re-engage them and thats not not hard is it? Its got to be better than lying or missing out the pitfalls and spinning the truth does it not?
Look I would be embarrassed if I was on the Branch committee and we recommended to the members to vote either yes and no and the members didn’t listen.

Re: what branches voted NO!!
My branch recommended a yes vote but me being a local rep, recommended a big NO as a personal view to members in my office. Seems to have upset a few at branch and now seems we are going to have to deal with the consequences locally with little support. So be it, bring it on.

Re: what branches voted NO!!
Then you did right by your members (not by your branch! just a political thing in my book! One member one vote, but be careful of the CWU bosses or you could be in trouble?) And another Rep bucks the trend and looks after his or her members not HQ! Maybe our Union is not finished as HQ and RM wish?silverback wrote:My branch recommended a yes vote but me being a local rep, recommended a big NO as a personal view to members in my office. But not at all embarrassed about last year's repercussions of encouraging members to vote for the hopelessly flawed 2007 P&M agreement?dingo wrote:Look I would be embarassed if I was on the Branch committee and we recommended to the members to vote either yes and no and the members didt listen.
