Keep telling yourself that mate!dingo wrote:Every party stated last night they would bring in a pay freeze if they were to win the general election.
The |CWU has managed to beat that by getting a 3 year deal which means not only does basic pay go up but the supplement goes up each year.
The third year wording around the review was worded in that way not because Royal Mail wanted that but if inflation or the pension issue was resolved.
Some of you believe that this was never about pay , well sorry it was always about the priniciple that Royal Mail should pay for change rather than just introduce change without any beneftits for the workforce.
The average D2D payment in my office was £25, then we had the ESA at £12.00. - I'd say we more than funded our so called 3 year pay deal, and that before you start looking at the fact we had a 1 year pay freeze followed by the promis of below inflation rate rises.
I had 4 members jack the Union today in disgust, many more are talking about doing the same, Well done HQ.

Bob certainly isnt getting it and not every PEC mbr is from deliveries and if those FT release from deliveries get ESA then its £8 rise not £20. All those area del reps didnt negotiate it either did they or divisonal reps with delivery background.
Hopefully dingo can inform us of ESA status for delivery reps on FT release.

Spilie you are wasting your time, they just don't get it. You have the professional union bods who won't be doing any more work and some may even be gaining from the supplement, and then you have those who try to justify it for whatever reason.spilie wrote:ffs what a shame its only £8 and heres me greetin about losing £15 a week sorry am just a selfish bast**d

Well it would be when you're working the average out on the basis of 52 weeks when nobody delivers them for 52 weeks.dingo wrote:but it is quite strange that the average door to door payment was £12 .

And those areas who reportedly are so bad that they didn't deliver them anyway, pour on the snake oil dingo.numan wrote:Well it would be when you're working the average out on the basis of 52 weeks when nobody delivers them for 52 weeks.dingo wrote:but it is quite strange that the average door to door payment was £12 .

Re: Public sector pay freeze.
This was never about pay - it was about the union looking into the abyss and doing anything in their power to prevent Royal Mail from giving them a gentle push.
How can the union claim to represent the interests of their members by stating there will be winners and losers? Obviously they cant.
All this bullshit about average this and average that means nothing. Averages are a meaningless number employed by people with an agenda to prove a point.
The FACT is this agreement is NOT FAIR.
It punishes some people with less pay and more work while rewarding others with more pay and less work.
Lets not beat around the bush. There was only one thing on the CWU aganda here:
SURVIVAL AT ALL COSTS.

Re: Public sector pay freeze.
There were a lot of things unfair with the current system. Was it fair that a walk holder could have the opportunity to earn more money then a rest day cover , a driver or a reserve simply because he or she could sign for a duty in seniority order. I think seniority is a fair system but only in selecting a duty not having the ability to earn more than someone.pickaname wrote:This was never about pay - it was about the union looking into the abyss and doing anything in their power to prevent Royal Mail from giving them a gentle push.

Equally is it fair that some has 600 hundred drops of which 200 are firms earns less than someone on 500 residential drops ?
Or someone in the highlands where there is no market for door to door.
There is a lot of unfairness and at least that money which went to a few including the barrons will now go to the many and will increase in the future.
If door to door does get automated as the business wants when they get 6 contracts then the union has trapped all the money into a permanent addition to basic pay which cannot now be reduced.
The facts are that the current system on door to door is not working , door to door traffic is decreasing . In additon the hardly anyone will start at 0500 in the morning under walk sequencing and the ESA payments shunk by 3 million last year and under the old system was never going to increase again.
The Union got a supplement for both of those payments which will go up in line with pay rises in the years to come.
If you have a leak in your house do you wait till its a flood before you address the issue ? No you dont you get it sorted as a leak.
Thats what the union has done and with it in workload in the years to come this will be viewed as a landmark deal .
Some of you may not have the vision to see it now , but the industry was not going to leave door to door being done in the same way as it has not worked. If it had the average items would be 3 and quality would be 98% instead of in some areas under 80% .

Re: Public sector pay freeze.
What a load of crap! This does nothing to rectify the former inequalities, what it does do is create different inequalities. There was no market in the highlands? so what? Some areas quality was only 80% - whose fault was that?
The one equality in the system was PAYMENT WAS MADE FOR WORK CARRIED OUT BY THE INDIVIDUAL. What you have created here is a single payment for the guy WHO WILL STILL BE DOING 700 DROPS AND GIVING AN EQUAL AMOUNT TO SOMEONE DOING 400 DROPS. And if he happens to be part time, even less!!!!
I sometimes wonder where the brains behind these ideas are kept .......................judging from the amount of crap spouted it doesn't take a genius to guess.
I would also like to question the statistical basis for the £12 across the board and exactly what parameters where used to arrive at that figure.

If they're voted out, they return to their original Grade. So unless they keep their Union position until they retire. They'll be returning to their Duties sooner or later.

Yes you are right BD - professional was probably the wrong word really - most inapprpriate under the circumstances for any of them. Really those who have taken it upon themselves to defend the most unfair agreement in my time with RM and do so from a position that will not engage in any of those changes nor be affected by them.Big Daz wrote:dvbuk55
