NATIONAL DEPLOYMENT MEETING LTB - UPDATE
TO: ALL BRANCHES WITH POSTAL MEMBERS
Dear Colleagues
BUSINESS TRANSFORMATION 2010 AND BEYOND AGREEMENT – DEPLOYMENT ISSUES
As explained in LTB360/10, we met Royal Mail yesterday for an initial discussion on deployment of the agreement.
Both parties recognised the need for strong processes to ensure the agreement is deployed consistently across all local offices, both in spirit and content.
We also agreed the need for a comprehensive workplan to progress the substantial ongoing work commitments within the agreement. This will evolve over the next few weeks and a further meeting will take place with Royal Mail next week to discuss these issues.
In the meantime, the following action points were agreed:
• Next week the Outdoor Secretary and the equivalent senior Royal Mail manager will issue a joint communication providing initial information on the deployment of Door to Door and relevant revision tools.
• A provisional date for a joint meeting between CWU Divisional Representatives and the equivalent senior Royal Mail managers was agreed for the 14th May to further discuss deployment issues with particular focus on how we transform relationships.
Finally, we can also confirm that the 2% pay increase will be paid on the 7th May 2010, backdated to the 5th April 2010, and for monthly paid employees the 2% increase will be in May salaries. The £400 lump sum (previous ColleagueShare dividend / paid pro-rata part time) due upon ratification of the agreement will also be paid on the 7th May 2010. We do not yet have agreed dates of the implementation of the new basic pay supplements and these will be subject to further discussions in conjunction with the relevant operational issues.
Further information will be sent out in due course.
All enquiries on the content of this LTB regarding pay should be addressed to the DGS(P) department. Enquiries relating to operational issues should be addressed to the relevant Assistant Secretaries.
Yours sincerely,
Dave Ward

Re: NATIONAL DEPLOYMENT MEETING LTB - UPDATE
If there is one sure-fire bet, where you can safely stake your house, all it's contents, and all the cash you could scrape together, it would be that postal workers will vote in favour of making working conditions worse, every time, and for very little reward.
As one of my customers said to me today, "you lot must be feckin' barmy." I said, "too many colleagues are hard-up, £400 before tax has been deducted is a huge amount of money to them."
My customer just laughed and walked off shaking his head. I just couldn't bring myself to tell him that the £400 before tax is deducted, was gonna be ours no matter how the vote went.
For the first time, I felt a real sense of shame in being seen wearing the RM uniform.

Listen H, you voted NO and I voted NO, you voted NO in 2007 and so did I - that was vindicated by the reaction by the general workforce less than two years later and so will this.DirtyHarry wrote:If there is one sure-fire bet, where you can safely stake your house, all it's contents, and all the cash you could scrape together, it would be that postal workers will vote in favour of making working conditions worse, every time, and for very little reward.![]()

The shame you are feeling is not your own but the shame of the union for actually negotiating this on behalf of the workforce and then selling it to those who still believe they have a union who has the power to change their working lives.

You're right, mate. What a mess we've been landed in, eh? Oh, for the days when we would have dragged traitors like Hayes & Ward to Cheapside and dispensed some long overdue summary justice.dvbuk55 wrote:

I noticed that the £8 supplement for the mail centre staff is now being delayed and under discussion. So the carrot that some people took as part of the agreement is now not there for the time being!!

Does that mean that Royal Mail haven't decided to tell them yet? You would have thought that because the YES vote was a foregone conclusion there may have been a little forward planning wouldn't you? Still a few more exe lunches for the boys, maybe a few sleep overs. more chattering.............................
