I finish every day at 13.20, I never take a break, I work right through my shift.....what's the problem, I have a coffee, a pee and off I go.......like I said before, this is 2010, not 1980, Royal Mail aren't a charity but most postal workers have been sponging off them for years and years....think of all the times in the past you made time on your deliveries, no-one is asking you to pay that back, they are just asking you to work your hours, they aren't even asking you to do any more work, just stay out till your time, that's not unreasonable, I was as sceptical about this as the rest of us but I've got my head round it now and am getting on with it......my suggestion is you all do the same.

If you think calling me names will upset me then you're wrong, everyone is entitled to freedom of speech, I don't lambast your opinions, I just provide a counter argument, your opinions are all worthwhile but so are mine.......please don't call me a pillock etc, you make yourselves look silly :no no

Maybe my office is a bloody good office but we've got to that position by having a backbone and standing up to the idle threats of management, we've been through tough times but we are now reaping the rewards of standing firm, working to rule and staying in control............grow some balls and follow the rules......you'll be glad you did in the end.

I'm the same as all you guys in the respect that I'm a delivery postman, on here moaning about the 'yes' vote, but I don't look at this and think I'll be worse off, for a start I'll still have a job, so that's about £300 a week better off for starters, then I'm going to get an extra £20.60 in my wages every week for delivering a few leaflets to houses I'm going to anyway with live mail! Royal Mail were seriously considering doing away or going a different direction with D2D so we could have ended up with £0 per week so I see the £20.60 as a bonus........

The saturday argument is in my opinion the most controversial and I agree with most of you that it means you can't play or watch sport, well, I think you'll be surprised, so we won't be starting until 7am, your finish time in that case, if you don't take a break will be 14.20pm, you don't have to work past that time, it's up to you within your offices to come up with solutiuons that work for you, if that means not doing an extra 1/8, 1/4 or 1/2 round on a saturday then don't agree to it, it's in your hands and you will get opportunities to come up with ways to make it work for you!

We had it very easy for a very long time and now we're moving into the real world and some of you don't seem to like it, well get over it and get on with it cos all your managers want you to do is work the hours you are paid for, is that such a crime? In any other job you wouldn't expect to leave 2 hours early just because you'd completed the task you were given to do would you, you'd be found something else to do or you'd make that task last all day.

Honestly, you're like a load of kids that haven't got their own way, well life's not like that so move with the times or bugger off and find another job but stop bitching on this site cos you're all doing my head in.

It couldn't go on like it was could it, we were taking the piss and had been for years and years!!!

Embrace the changes and make them work for you, I believe you'll be pleasantly surprised by what comes out of this
How refreshing to hear from a female brown noser :nana :nana .... Who doesn't take her meal releifs and i bet works from her car..... It's generally the blokes in our office...... That car must be pretty quick of yours as well cause for your info 99% of games kick off before 3 so to get home showered and make kick off it sounds like the bat mobile to me..... People like you will get on well with the union, cap in hand gratefull to have a job and when RM get thier way it won't be just work till your time you'll have a set ammount to take me bets and docket won't be booked as easy as the union seems to think. I have no problem working till my time but also have a life, family and hobby which one day all fitted in around RM's times till they decided to waste millions on some machine to save 19 minitues per postie and p..s off all our customers and upset any of it's staff who have an ounce of pride in therselves, wishing to be treated fairly and rewarded with a small anual pay rise for thier efforts....... Look forward to seeing you in the courier championing the new way of working alongside some other carefully selected brown nosers.... Oh your in the minority on here me duck this forum still beleives in respectfull free speach :Applause so if its doing your head in try the gossip column of the courier they'll luv your sort on there :dance :dance

cheetah - pretty sure you'll find that 'male' in the gender heading means I'm 'male' - lol

I'm an ex footballer, I know what time games kick off, it's a lifestyle choice you now need to make isn't it, if you want to be a postal worker then you'll have to make some sacrifices, or grow a backbone and insist you can't finish later than 1.30pm on a saturday, they will find a solution for you, so cheetah, do you have the balls to tell your DOM you have to finish early on a sat or are you just all mouth and trousers on forums?

The latter I suspect.

And for your information i work to rule, in at 6am, off at 1.20pm or 2pm if break taken, unless I want the o/t....works for me but I have a backbone ;)

No problem just a bit of a contradiction with your earlier post
We had it very easy for a very long time
Royal Mail aren't a charity but most postal workers have been sponging off them for years and years
That is a very definite and sweeping statement that many bullied and harassed postmen might find a little hard to swallow, can you back it up?
If you think calling me names will upset me then you're wrong, everyone is entitled to freedom of speech, I don't lambast your opinions, I just provide a counter argument, your opinions are all worthwhile but so are mine.......please don't call me a pillock etc, you make yourselves look silly :no no
I think you will find if you re-read the post in question ,that there was no name calling involved ,rather a statement of fact regarding the tone of your post, and a suggestion of how you might better get your point across without offending people.
To be honest I agree with the underlying thrust of your post ,but telling people to bugger off and labeling them all as piss takers and scroungers is hardly persuasive and perhaps not the most effective use of your right to freedom of speech. So, sorry if I offended you ,but there was no intention to cause upset and frankly I'm a bit surprised that someone so fond of blunt speaking should be quite so bothered by my reply.

:Applause Well said and good advice .Keep up the good work
Bye

Excuse my assumption sorry, sounds like you have a lot of back bone with a name like sexy legs. I don't work to rule but i do the job properly which you obviously do not re. i don't take my meal relief..... Don't preach to me about back bone i have spent months at a time in previous jobs defending my job on strike, you seem to think you have done it all because you have been on strike one day per week for three weeks... And they certainally won't find a solution for me or anyone else wanting to see a game, after not being late or having a single day off sick in 7 years, the other week i had to see a consultant at hospital and was told by my DOM it was difficult to grant me time off.... needless to say i told him please himself, i went anyway and got the time back after fighting for it..... Oh you didn't answer the question about working from your car.... mind don't bother i wouldn't believe you anyhow have a nice day SEXY LEGS :funneh :funneh

Well on the whole Belial I'll assume that was a compliment....so thanks :)

:cuppa

cheetah - I would never use my own vehicle to help the management out...........I'm firmly on the posties side in all these arguments, just makes me angry when I see posts like 'thanks CWU, there goes my season ticket' all I'm saying is don't bitch about it, do something constructive to sort it, that's my point.

SexyLegs because the girls in my office think I have sexy legs.............probably from years of playing football at a high standard as well as cricket and golf........gave up footie and cricket when I took the job with Royal Mail, can play golf whenever so that's my sport now.....lifestyle choice :)

Are you in the union??

If so I hope you voted no because this is how it's going to be for the foreseeable.

My union rep is awesome, he tells everyone in our office not to run round and take your meal relief but plenty still get round and make time, I looked at the signing out sheet today......11.20, 11.25 finishes for full timers, making a good 1 1/2 hours........these people have no brain.

I got told this week if I take election stuff there is no o/t so I left all the election stuff, manager couldn't say a word because I have childcare issues, by far the best bargaining tool for us all, use it!!!

wow sexylegs is that you, surely not  just another attention seeker, please if you are going to put forward arguments at least be consistent

Spillie

I am consistent, I do the job properly, I don't run round, I inform management if I feel I won't complete, I just find it easier for me in the week to finish at 1.20pm so I can get home and start tea prior to picking up kids etc etc...............I'm a modern man, cooking, cleaning, my wife works so why should she do it all......

but I am consistent!

When I was at Cardiff City I was a defender, normally sweeper or left back, but have played everywhere including in goal so you're both right at differing stages of my careeer!!!!
