I can't prep my D2D's in the frame!
97% of my frame has 2 houses per slot.
Absolute BS from the muppets at RM.
Almost as insane as the average walking speed of 4MPH.
Get on a treadmill and put it at 4MPH. You try walking that!
For fecks sakes. My daily cardio is 20 mins at 5MPH.

Those figures have not been agreed. The Union are meeting with Royal Mail tomorrow along with ACAS and Roger Poole to discuss all the aspects.
Now in terms of this document it is a management document and will be discssed in depth tomorrow. It states that you only prep 1 sixth of your door to door on your walk per day. The first and second items indivudually and if you have 3 items you lay them on your frame in 3 plies and then pick one each and then slot them into your frame.
There are numerous problems with these document , apart from the planning values but there are no mention of planning values for other issues like if you have more addresses per slot and then you have to double handle them.
So in short the guidelines have to be agreed. Thats within the agreement.
Remember Royal Mail changed the CDV guidelines once we achieve the agreement.
The meeting tomorrow will also discuss when the supplement can start and what happens in the interim to door to door.

It may not be 'agreed' but it doesn't stop management from trying to use these figures. The truth! wrote:Those figures have not been agreed. The Union are meeting with Royal Mail tomorrow along with ACAS and Roger Poole to discuss all the aspects.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to even put 1 item of D2D in my frame. Also, why would I put one in the frame, then prep the rest seperately? Should I cover the same dead ground twice?
At the moment, I prep ALL the D2D's I have for the specific street and deliver them. Do the heaviest streets on the lightest days, so I actualy have room in my bag for them. Only day's I have time to prep D2D's is a monday and tuesday. It takes a hell of a long time to prep 650*3 D2D's. Even if I minus 20% for my floater to do, it's still a long time. Now if I have to prep D2D's EVERY DAY, when will I have time? I know people say it will be part of your duty, but it's supposed to be part of the duty already and I don't have time.
I simply don't trust the union or management. We'll get shafted once again. It may be alright at first, then the goalposts will be moved, as they are each and every time.

Re: d2d & more hours
4mins = 1 d2d contract x 6 days (20 percent a day)
so that would = 20 mins to prep 1 d2d?
so that would = 20 mins to prep 1 d2d?

It will no longer be 20% its now 1/6th per day and those figures are per 500 delivery points. so you only have to prep 500/6=83.33333 items per day (if you have 500 drops that is)I only have 374 drops so I will only have to prep 62 items per day (if only one contract) but will only have 178 seconds to do it..(2 minutes 58 seconds).......
I had to really think about the maths to get those figures so imagine a DOM trying to factor the times for loads of walks plus how will they plan for the amount of time to allow in the planning stages.....will they assume 6 D2Ds !!

Was it not written that the RM 2000 should be set out with only one drop per slot? There are numerous problems with these document , apart from the planning values but there are no mention of planning values for other issues like if you have more addresses per slot and then you have to double handle them.
If not, why not?
Doubling up slots is so obviously potentially detrimental to quality and is patently inefficient . RM better do something about it if the are in the least bit serious about providing a top quality D2D product

Those figures are based on 500 delivery points and you sorting 1/6th of your door to door each day. So for example if you have 500 delivery points you will sort 83 door to door items per day and the credit in this document for one door to door item is 4 mins per day. Thats about 1.3 per second.
Remember when you join Royal Mail you have to perfrom 500 cards in 20 mins with 99% accuracy. Which is less than 1 per second.
Now the document further quotes that time has to be adjusted where you have multi address slots and of course if door to door is bulkier and if your frames are full.
This will be discussed with Royal mail over the next few days.

Sorry 20 minutes = 1200 secondsThe truth! wrote:Those figures are based on 500 delivery points and you sorting 1/6th of your door to door each day. so 500 over 1200 seconds is 1 every 2.4 seconds nearly double the time suggested for D2Ds and they have to do done into a full frame not an empty one like the test.
BTW if we have 1 D2D based on the figures given above then I think its doable - the question everyone is raising is that the more D2Ds you have the less time per leaflet is allowed which is plain crazy -
Lets hope that more sensible figures are agreed and that because it takes longer to prep 1 item into a frame that already has 4 in it, than it does to prep 1 item that only has 1 other item in it the time allowed increase not decreases.
