Who has confidence in the CWU?

I've been asked to set up this poll, on behalf of a Member who had trouble getting it to work.

Personally, I still have confidence in the CWU. Although that confidence has admittedly, been shaken by recent events.

Please only answer this poll, if you're a member of the CWU.

Hard one to answer for me - I have confidence in the membership of the CWU but I am losing it fast with the Leadership, especially as seem out of touch with the impact on the ground of their decisions.

This should really be in 2010 no? it won't get the traffic here,and 2010 is full of cwu members.

I don't have confidence in the leadership, i have confidence in the workers ability to stand up for ourselves if we organise to do it. A rank and file movement is the key to them both!

Are you going to stand up? or are expecting the next guy to do it?

I've been mulling over this and tbh I think fear is the thing holding us back.A vote of no confidence and a new regime.
If someone would point me in the right direction I'd be canvassing votes in a heart beat.

I'm just unsure how to go about it,procedure etc.

Of course, imo we should return to the strike, tho i don't think we would automatcially go strait to a strike after a no vote there might be negotiations. But can we win what we need without strike action, i dont think so. It should never have been canned back in november in the first place.

My area reps and everyone connected to the CWU are useless and a waste of time. They seem to do what the management want and our main area rep in Birmingham is so corrupt

Well, after the mess the CWU has just landed the beleagured walking postie, only a complete fool would have a single shred of confidence in buffoons who resemble the Keystone Cops more than they do a tough fighting union, determined to battle long and hard to protect the terms and conditions of it's members.
If one thing can be said, with any degree of certainty, it's this.....2010 and Beyond, does nothing to either enhance, or protect, our terms and conditions.
If anything, 2010 and Beyond, goes a helluva way towards making a job in deliveries as appealing as having Mandelson standing next to you at a urinal, with a "come hither" look in his eye.

Sad to say but the answer is no. First off ,shocking deals made with management; second ,when those responsible are voted out by ordinary members they strangely manage to keep their cosy full time lardarse positions by somehow shuffling their acolytes back to the ranks. So you can forget the CWU as an effective example of representative democracy; pointless ,your input will be sidestepped . Wrong I know ,but why bother?Bent as bent can be just like the rest of the system and a key part of it
