The votes not too difficult to understand. :hmmmm

You've got ten people, you offer six of them a rise by taking money away from the remaining four, you get them all to vote on it and guess what? 60% to 40% maybe!

I understand why people voted yes,but for those of you who did, please don't try to tell us we've got a good deal or that the result of the vote is "fair"!

meercat wrote:Yes it was a 'democratic' process but the ballot options did NOT reflect the impact of the decision being made. Indoors workers and those in areas that recieve low volumes of d2d voted on increases in workload and cuts in pay that WILL NOT affect them. So it was a totally unfair process with no attempt made to make it truely representational. Indoors and outdoors staff should have had seperate ballots and the question of d2d should have been made by area basis to make it fair.

Only 20% of the UK population voted for this Labour Government - everyone else didn't. And NOT ONE voter voted for Gordon Brown as PM. That's also 'democracy' in action but it doesn't make it right.

Also just cancelled union deduction and the hospital assurance thing while I was there as can't afford that anymore. 30hr contract so 160quid a year better off as a result. Kiss my ASS CWU.
Flawed point... indoor workers actually also voted on an agreement that will see a large number of mail centre's close, so to try and blame that on indoor workers is way off the mark.. at least 50% of indoor workers would have to have considered there own jobs as part of this deal. You are all talking about loss of d2d payments when we are having to face up to closures and job losses, and as for the saturday working we all do an 8hr saturday and 8hr sunday without any chance of having a "shorter" day

If people want to leave then thats up to them. You cant blame them for leaving.

In fact I feel cleansed.

If you believe that everyone just voted on the issue of money, then you have a very small opinion of human nature.
Who said that the current D2D system was fair in the first place?

It's probably the wrong time to leave, the real crap will start now and we will need the backup of our local reps. to help protect us.

Its fair cause you get paid for the amount you do. When you sign for a duty based on seniority you know whether theres a lot or a little so its your choice.

Now we have a supplement that also goes to people who dont do d2d...how it that fair?

How the CWU concocted this is truly unbelivable.

Hopefully now people will just start doing their job and hours required. I'm not sure if leaving the union is the right thing but asking our top Labour bitches to leave maybe more appropriate.

Oh sorry, yes i did presume they voted for it because of the money. What other reasons were there, was it the longer Saturdays or the unspecified delivery spans ?

and just tell them you want to stop your CWU subscription.

Took 2 mins.

Job done.
What a fantastic idea, and at precisely the right moment. . . . . pick a time when the local bosses and union reps have been given the job of deciding our future (rather than the boys at the top) and severely weaken the power of your local rep by splitting the workforce and abandoning the union. Nice !
