Re: RING THIS NUMBER TO CANCEL UNION SUBS
Let me see the reasoning here,
I belong to a union that democratically represents its paying members.
It's members enter into a dispute with RM due to changes without agreement.
The union calls a national strike for its members.
The union negotiates a new deal for the members and puts it to vote.
The deal gets democratically voted through.
I don't like this union, it didn't do it's job so I am leaving.
The fact is that the union has done its job, it's just that the outcome doesn't suit you.
Leaving the union will mean that every outcome will not suit you.

exactly so for those who it doesnt suit they should piss off the union if they want by pulling their money away from them.
thats how it works

Re: RING THIS NUMBER TO CANCEL UNION SUBS
you missed out the bit where the members lost alot of money in the strike, got into a position where it was making a difference then were told to go back in
oh and that the 'deal' was actually a pay cut

Indeed and it is also the "peoples choice" if they wish to leave.
And since you are not in OUR union your opinion although welcome is completely irrelevant.

Re: RING THIS NUMBER TO CANCEL UNION SUBS
As is usually the case, a lot of people voted yes because their union told them there was no other choice.I am number six wrote:I agree people have had their say and the vote is 2-1 in favor of the agreementbanner18 wrote:Let me see the reasoning here,

Re: RING THIS NUMBER TO CANCEL UNION SUBS
Yes it was a 'democratic' process but the ballot options did NOT reflect the impact of the decision being made. Indoors workers and those in areas that recieve low volumes of d2d voted on increases in workload and cuts in pay that WILL NOT affect them. So it was a totally unfair process with no attempt made to make it truely representational. Indoors and outdoors staff should have had seperate ballots and the question of d2d should have been made by area basis to make it fair.
Only 20% of the UK population voted for this Labour Government - everyone else didn't. And NOT ONE voter voted for Gordon Brown as PM. That's also 'democracy' in action but it doesn't make it right.
Also just cancelled union deduction and the hospital assurance thing while I was there as can't afford that anymore. 30hr contract so 160quid a year better off as a result. Kiss my ASS CWU.

Re: RING THIS NUMBER TO CANCEL UNION SUBS
Its a very sad day for us lads im going to get through the short term but as of now im considering resigning as local rep and pulling out the union.
I hope D.Ward and B.Hayes do the honourable thing and resign now.
UNITE number six isnt that the DIMS union are you trying to tell us somethink
Here here meercat couldnt agree with you more mate this is by far the most unfair ballot ive been involved in,in 14 years of working for R/M and being a member of the union.
I hope D.Ward and B.Hayes do the honourable thing and resign now.

Re: RING THIS NUMBER TO CANCEL UNION SUBS
I voted no but I am more disappointed with the low turnout.
Personally I am not going to pull out of the union at this moment in time. I plan to look at the situation in a few months time when some of the dust has settled. I think this is the only way you can get a clear picture of the situation.
The people who did NOT vote should be the ones leaving the union, not us, as they are a disgrace.
(Obviously not the ones who did not get the papers or are too ill to vote)

Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one
