Oh dear i have done it again, once again i have to apologise if i have upset anyones religious or non religious views but when it comes down to Leighton and Crozier i have no respect for either, they could both die tomorrow and i wouldn't give a sh*t.

Rhino, I'm a Christian - practising Catholic - and have just got back from 1200 Mass, but i think that if Alan Leighton is going to use his religious beliefs as a platform to broadcast his views on how to run a business (or public service) then people who are on the receiving end of his proposed changes are entitled to take the mickey.
Even if we have religious beliefs we can still have a sense of humour.
God be with you

Which is why I made the point - "I would offer the thought that to use a religious association to enhance your standing in business or justify your treatment of others is unacceptable." I am only concerned at the thin end of a wedge that may in turn ridicule believers such as yourself on a forum that is showing signs of personal vendetta amongst ourselves as well as against our original targets - take a long deep breath everybody and remember why we are here. I am merely making observations and am not chastising my co-contributors whose humour is as much a blessing as anything I have experienced in life - it may at the end be what gets us through what is to come.Seniorman wrote:Rhino, I'm a Christian - practising Catholic - and have just got back from 1200 Mass, but i think that if Alan Leighton is going to use his religious beliefs as a platform to broadcast his views on how to run a business (or public service) then people who are on the receiving end of his proposed changes are entitled to take the mickey.

OK, since it was me who sparked this off with the Church of England takeover thing I'm going to apologise to Rhino and anyone else on this forum who may have been offended by it. It was just a bit of fun and not meant to upset anyone. If I offended Alan Leighton, then tough. He is attacking me and my fellow postal workers so the gloves are off. This also begs the question can a capitalist also be a christian? Can a man whose aim in life is to make millions at the expense of ordinary working people really hold the values of a true christian? I don't believe so. What do you think?
Down with the blackleg, all workers unite.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Cheers Rowdy, but I don't need or require an apology, especially from people I am coming to regard as friends. My original post was not because I was hurt by what was said but because I feared we would hurt innocent people in our drive for comment by any means, pretty much as our leaders are doing. I may be moderate but am no moderator so please don't feel obliged to put the gloves on at the risk of blunting your good humour - time to draw a line under this one methinks as there is a mushroom and garden herb stuffed meatloaf about to come out of the oven and when you live in a house full of gannets, it pays to get your beak in early bye for now and :cfo :lfoRowdy wrote:OK, since it was me who sparked this off with the Church of England takeover thing I'm going to apologise to Rhino and anyone else on this forum who may have been offended by it. As these two people have said there was no malice from anyone and to anyone and I am sure no offence taken by anyone? lets all continue to take the P*** out of L&C, KEEP OUR SENSE OF HUMOR AND REMEMBER WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER.rhino49 wrote:Cheers Rowdy, but I don't need or require an apology, especially from people I am coming to regard as friends. jesus warns about riches in the gospels ,but you can still be a christian if you are rich, just like todays working class in terms of wealth own more than the working class of sixty years ago .orwells road to wigan pier suggests this . Its what you do with it that counts being a christian means mainly that god controls your life therefore he can use that wealth wisely. bono said celebrity is currency and i intend to use it (hes a christian) .you or I couldnt do that unless we won the lottery .however mother teresa
demonstrates god acting in poverty.
Going to church (the word church actually means the Christians not the building ) does NOT make you a christian . but it does expose people to jesus,s message which if they respond will change their lives, ways of thinking, how they treat others etc something I personally would really like to see with royal mail .YES god means corporations as well
what was that extra commandment that jesus gave , do unto others you would have done to you .

Unofficial sources say there will be a major shakeup. Crozier hopes to implement a plan of 'MODERNISATION' with a revue of pay being a priority. He believes that compared to competitors vicars are 100% overpayed. Catholic priests and nuns take a vow of poverty therefore do the job cheaper. He also believes vicars are underworked as competitors such as RC, Mormons, Islam and Scientology have entered the lucrative market. Plans are that when vicars visit their flock they could also read their gas and electricity meters and deliver leaflets. This could bring in much needed revenue for the Church.ade@cambs wrote:Repent http://www.churchtimes.co.uk/content.asp?id=41497
Other rumours suggest removing vicars from the pulpit and replacing them with plasma screens where sermons can be delivered by Alan and Adam as well as using the conference feature to hold funerals/weddings/christenings on mass furthermore reducing costs.
There are also plans afoot to move expensive to run churches which are not profitable into branches of WH Smith where people can pop in to buy a mars bar and a newspaper and also have their souls saved. Unfounded rumours suggest that Adam Leightons book may also replace the Bible.
One posed picture of him where he's supposed to look mean , in reality he looks like a 8yr old whoose soiled his trousers and been made to wear them as punishment.
What's all that stuff about painting flats pink, bit on the edge ? but that's a typical maverick manager , very dangerous , huge but fragile egos means a bully. I half expected a load of rubbish about him going to Church on Sunday etc because Walmart are a Christian -Right anti-union firm . It's all mid 90's all this David Brent stuff but he's charging people for it.
The chariddee stuff makes me laugh , who does he think he is ? Bill Gates? Sorry about the rant but he p***** me off!
Brilliant

Bluffer & bull******, he really does think because of all the quasi-religious sales/"guru" speak & "strong motivational techniques" , that he's qualified to insultingly speak on the subject.
All that rubbish about multi-culturial churches in Southall, how does he know. The only people going to Church will be posties for funerals or prayers because of his new pension scheme , maybe AL could come to one and put some of RM's saved money in the Church maintenance fund collection plate as it seems they're hoping people drop before they can retire & not draw on pension funds.
