Forgive me if the brain is addled after being away from the job for over 18 months (and I was working on a Firms not Residential Delivery for the past 4 years), but once all the mail is in the frame, would it not be easier to just then add the D2Ds (for the 18% you have decided to do that day) as you pull the mail out of each slot (or in the case of double slots just slap a set of D2Ds front and back of that mail, rather than having to try and put the D2Ds actually into the frame slots...?

Stands back and waits for the flaw in this to be pointed out.... :hmmmm

eh???...so you pull your first call out , add your 5/6/7 seperate d2d to that, you then pull out 2nd call (whilst still holding onto your first call) add seperate 5/6/7 d2d , pull out your 3rd call (whilst still holding onto your first and second calls)..etc..etc.. not only would it take more time and fantastic co-ordination but you would also need three hands .. sorry but not practicable !!
edit: f*ck me..I must be a right loser..its gone 3 oclock and im giving advice on tying up tw*ting d2d`s  ..been awake for nearly 24 hours, back in work in another 2 hours..might aswell stay awake now :Boo hoo!

Door to Door into workload, what was it before then?I've always prepped 20%ish in the 1st 15min's of the day before I sort my first letter, then if its to heavy a day cut off, but not the part with the d2d's in.We're told its now in the workload (if its a yes)but you did'nt do them in your own time before,(unless you were an twonk).
Any married man should forget his mistakes. There's no use in two people remembering the same thing.

There is a lot of confusion which some managers have taken liberties with:

----------------------------------Old System: -------------------------- New System
Prepped in work time ------- Yes ------------------------------------ Yes
Delivered in work Time ------- Yes ------------------------------------- Yes
Measured in Traffic levels --------- No -------------------------------------- Yes
Accounted for in IWT --------------- No --------------------------------------- Yes
Affects Call Rate --------------------- No ---------------------------------------- Yes :pray
Can Claim Overtime ---------------- No ----------------------------------------- Yes :pray

The biggest difference is that they are now included in accounted for working hours whereas in the past that were not.

What if you don't bother sorting the D2D into the frame?
Then you get 4 mins prep time for nothing.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

spilie wrote:fu**ing magic as soon as the votes are in the real TRUTH comes out, all the scare stories from the union that D2D was going to disappear and jobs with them, and "listen guys we dont even think D2D will take of", oh but this is just RM`s take we still have an input, aye right we all knew we would be shafted with D2D and so did the CWU, shame on you
Agreed Spilie. We hear no detail about D2D until we have all cast our votes. Thank f*ck I voted no. I wonder how many didn't and are now full of regret. Mugs!

Of course we are.
At the moment i can take as long as i need (within reason) to prep my D2D as there are no agreed standards and i get paid for them.

In future i will have a manager on my case if i take longer than the allocated time and i wont get paid for them.

And this is an improvement in my terms and conditions because............. :cuppa

Well it is going to preserve full time jobs of course - I mean 14 minutes a day is almost an hour and three quarters a week for 6 items - well god only knows how many full time jobs that will save - of course the truth has only suggested that's what RM are proposing but it isn't agreed of course - so how as the figure been arrived at do you think? My guess is eeny meeny miny mo.

how can it save jobs when no one knows how many a week we will get from one week to the next, and what happens when they get automated and 6+ come in a sleeve .................that will be 1 item = 4 mins

Well...... far be it for me to put full-time jobs at risk but.....i would suggest that the 14 minutes a day will simply be fleeced from my existing prep time under the guise of the wonderful new agreed(as yet unseen) standards.
After all if you can prep 6 DTD in 14mins(into a fully prepped frame) just imagine what you can do with a walk sequenced tray.
