A FIRST-class couple who dedicated time to raise money for a paralysed youngster have been honoured by their employers.
Posties Richard and Carol Camps, of Gossops Green, have been shortlisted for an award after they took part in a sponsored walk to raise funds for a teenager who was involved in an horrific accident.
Lauren Jones, 13, from Worthing, was a budding footballer but her dreams were shattered when she fell out of a tree while playing with friends last summer.
She was left paralysed from the waist down.
Mr and Mrs Camps, of Rosedale Close, heard about her ordeal and organised a sponsored walk to and from their workplace at Crawley Post Office, raising £1,070.
The duo have now been shortlisted for one of Royal Mail's 1st Class People Awards for fundraising. Speaking to the News last year, Carol, 50, said: "Richard and I have watched Lauren play.
"She was very good. She played for Worthing Minors and her last game was against Crawley side Oakwood.
"My daughter Chelsea plays for them and is the same age as Lauren, so when we heard the story, it was quite a shock."
