I am Still on it - having a shite walk is way better than being a reserve so you have it way better than some. Sometimes you have to look outside the bubble. :Very Happy
Agree with that. Been a reserve for two years ; until the last few months when I picked up a float (due to the regular floats illness).

Reserve is a tough gig indeed.
 Try being the driver looking after all you bloody reserves !!!

Gone fishing - Who's gonna bite first ?
ME!!!!

All drivers should be flogged within an inch of their lives .... and then some more!!!

I'm doing a 5 hour delivery at the minute (each day cover +20 km) and at least 1/2 of it is 8 steps to the door.

That's better. Though less SHOUTING would be nice.

I have no idea. Though i am sure that someone can advise
who do u think u are ? im a postie not a english pronounciation expert.

AMIGO
I know who i am. Do you know who you are?

From reading your posts you seem to have a hard time with your walk; but you put your points accross in a very negative way.

That I understand. But I would suggest that you use language that i can follow (it may be an age thing with me --- but i hate text speak)

Tell Them you have issue with a customer who has made threats at you. but don't say who its is or they may bring the police in. say it was over not shutting his gate or not pushing mail right through, it easy, make a dick of the line Manager...

Doubt that would get you anywhere, like a customer who complains - no evidence/willing to
identify yourself - no go anywhere

I suppose it depends what what you class as a bad walk. Some are bad for different reasons, loads of flats, loads of gates, bad area, hills, dogs, steps, hi-rise tower blocks, the list is as long as a postie's gripes about their DOM's.
For the record, my walk is sh*** because of the flats, area, dogs, steps and hills, and it's a pain to throw off. There are never any takers to cover my walk on OT (except my rest day cover), and some poor reserve usually gets chucked on it. But, I've done part of it for almost 10 years and the rest for 5 and I like it.

Lets face it, none of us have a walk like Postman Pat.

Not all duties are created equal. There's one in my office where you can get finished for about 11.45 am on a heavy day (I did it for a single day late last year and was gobsmacked at how easy it is/was. the managers know it's a piece of piss, but don't do anything about it).

I know exactly what you mean. I was covering a walk last week, regular guy was on A/L. About 450 calls, completely flat, hardly any gates, no long drives, very few packets, nice people with nice dogs. Never had to work past 12:15 all week. This week ive been covering the walk from hell :arrrghhh

You really do live in a bubble - EA the cause of the strikes last year both National and Local - its an abbreviation for Executive Action.

Basically where management make changes to the office (hours of work, re-plot walks, work plan etc) without first getting agreement from the CWU, and is some cases without even trying to.

4hr walks, 5hr walks...........some of the stuff I read on here is unbelievable!

TIP - Always speak to a manager with your rep by your side!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I start at 6am and I finish at 13.20pm, if I haven't finished I cut off, I always say to a manager that 'I might cut off as I have to finish on time today' unless I know I'll get finished comfortably, the managers argues with me, gives me the 'we expect committment bullshit' but I stand my ground, then he utters those immortal words.......how long will it take you? I say about ??hours and he says right, leave A Street and B Road then, so I leave them, shimmy round at a reasonable but not frantic pace and get back 10 minutes before my end time, and the managers never say a word to me, you guys need to chill out, work your 7h20m and that's it (unless you want the docket) there is simply nothing they can do to you.........you only have to work your contracted hours, no employment tribunal is going to frown on you for doing that so just do what you're supposed to and then go home.......if and when things get better for us then you can do a bit more then but while things are this shite they can forget it and so should you :)

 16 years in the job, and still bad walks. depends on how many people are senior to you, how many walks there are etc. Strangely, when the new starts come in, at least in our office, they are getting walks that are not too bad compared to some old timers. ninety % of the time, you only THINK your walk is the worst.
