MoNkEyBoY wrote:Rite BOYO to answer your question No the rep shouldn’t have sat on it for 3 months, he should have raised this issue straight away why he didn’t only he knows maybe with everything that’s going on at present it slipped his mind and when the SOM came to the office through discussions may have jogged the reps memory so he asked the question about A/L.
Do you always open your posts in an attacking manner do you have anger problems .If you have I can get a help line number for and PM you it as you seem very up tight and all wound up. So let’s move on shall we. I think your rep by high lighting what’s happened in the said office has brought it up to protect the members he serves not to leave them in a mess. Please can you explain to me what mess he has created because the only people who have created the mess are the DIM and the people like you who worked whilst on A/L.?
Some of your comments are so wacky I have to read them over. I am no have a go hero were you get that assumption from I don’t know but if that’s how you see me fine DEAL with it and move on. Mis-management and grievances are first dealt with by the unit rep at local level if the problem can not be resolved then it is passed up to the Area rep who then meets with the SOM and they thrash it out amongst themselves. Are you aware of how vast an area is that an area rep covers could you imagine if every problem at local level was phoned through to the area rep he would only be able to deal with one office that’s why as a last resort it is passed over to him and the local rep first tries to resolve the matter. Basically the way you have said it is ridiculous when would the area rep get to other offices if it were done your way.
I’m glad you can see you are your work buddies were in the wrong but I bet given the chance you would do it again without hesitation SO DON’T DO IT AGAIN. Genuine mistake how long have your worked for R/M for if its some time I doubt it was a mistake as you would have known like the majority of us do that have worked for R/M for many years. You keep mentioning extra money extra docket how does that make us selfish well I shall explain best I can .Like many in my office they are unable to get time off they want due to numbers and I dare say it’s the same in your office and like many across the country. You have picked leave for the weeks YOU wanted to HAVE TIME OFF FROM R/M there may well have been someone in your office that wanted the same weeks off but were unable to, so they have picked time off they didn’t want. To rub salt into the wound you then decided to come into work when YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN OFF that’s what is selfish or cant you see past your wallet .You do show a great contempt for the fellows workers in your office by what you did and quite clearly have proven your out just for yourself and everyone else can go to hell. Another thing in the eyes of management your setting a president what’s stopping them in the future pressurising folk to come and work whilst on A/L because of your actions and believe me they will use you as the bench mark. It’s a good job you have a rep that’s there to stop it isn’t it BOYO. You seem to know that there was no one in your office that wanted those weeks I suppose you went around and asked every individual didn’t you.
You can not comment on how militant you think I am and I am certainty not going to explain myself to the likes of you my friend. I am glad yes that people like you are not in the union. Why because you couldn’t give a toss about the union you don’t care about adhering to agreements you don’t give a toss about your fellow worker you are one person I wouldn’t like to be in the trenches with as it wouldn’t be the enemy I would have to worry about it would be you shooting me in the back. Please don’t mention recruiting to me you don’t know how many members I have and haven’t recruited but the union can do without folk like you I wouldn’t insult myself by giving you a union form .You haven’t been driven away by any reps YOU have chosen not to be in a union nobody else’s so stop trying to point the finger at anyone that gets in your line of sight if it bothers you that much tomorrow ask your rep for a form bet you wont .BOYO try and keep to the facts don’t try and imagine what type of person or rep I am you will give yourself a headache. Only your rep knows why he’s done a u-turn but I bet you the u-turn isn’t in favour of people again working A/L.
No I don’t want to see anyone lose there job why would I but I have no sympathy for DIM WITTED DOMS that have no courage to stand and be heard DIMS are all yes men who need to get a back bone they just follow orders with bowed heads, and when one steps over the mark yes I want them to be disciplined to the highest degree. Reason for this word gets about amongst over DIMS and they don’t try it on again.
I don’t understand were your coming from when you say about your rep voting for I/A and expecting him to come to work .I don’t expect anyone to be a scab so im confused to what you meant by that point. The buy back scheme yes good idea agree with you there put this to your rep who then can put it to the branch who then can put it to conference unless you try you will never know but obviously this is something in your office you should pursue. Your Dim doing his bit for a clear office instead of him putting his efforts into that why doesn’t he put his efforts into raising the staffing levels of your office?
Apologies to all for this epilogue it won’t happen again I promise.
What's all this Boyo ! Are you Welsh or just over patronising ?
It seems you have a good following of people who know you on here willing to to be your best mate at every turn !
I may have opened aggressively but that is only because I feel passionate about the way in which the matter has been dealt with !
Anger problems I certainly don't have but I will not be talked down to by anyone and will defend what I think to be right !
When refering to the situation as a mess it might have been the wrong terminology more like an atmosphere and distrust feeling left lingering in the air !
Yes i'm aware that an area reps coverage is of some size - my point is that in the absence of a local rep an office need not be rode rough shot over by management as they still have an option to call an area rep should the need arrise - If a local rep is in place then of course they can go through them in the first instance !
Holiday in this instance was not a problem as I explained I for one was given this week due to it being one light on annual leave so a need to check with everyone in this office was certainly not required ! Spaces were obviously available and a visual chart of all leave is displayed on a notice board for all to see ! This obviously may be a strange concept to you but if you require a weeks leave that is unavailable the first thing we do is ask those due to be off if they need the week and if not could they swap to free it up ! Had anyone asked me I would at this stage have willing passed it over !
The only problem weeks that arrise within the office are usually reserved for that of the 6 week school holidays !
How can any manager pressure someone into working their leave ? How can this set a presidence ? This assumption is ludicrous ! A manager says I want you to work your leave you just say NO - If he says "well boymay did ! - You reply "so what" ! - end off !
I'm afraid I must be missing something because I still don't feel selfish at all ! I don't understand how i'm showing such contempt towards my colleagues !
You consider me to be an inside enemy ! For gods sake why ? I have lost count how many times I have spoken up in open floor meetings to defend the front line posties along with numerous ideas to help the smooth running of the office in a way better suited against managerial wishes ! I am constantly open to help others with their worries concerns and often bring problems up for others that lack the confidence to do so infront of large/any size groups !
Hopefully Hampshire Man will confirm this in my favour !
Strange isn't it how we build an idea of someone - you wouldn't trust me as far as you could kick whilst a colleague just yesterday said "wish you were still in the union you could talk on behalf of us all then"
Your quite right in what you say though I wont be askingfor a form to rejoin how could I become part of a system where the ones who are meant to protect don't warn you first but would rather forge on regardless consiquences ?
Just as a reference to what I mean by this when this first all blew up a colleague was genuinely fearful of what the full weight of discipline could be bought down on him ! He turned to the rep in question and said "so if I lose my job over this I have you to thank then" A smug smile with a simple "yes" was all that followed ! Great way to put a members mind at ease !
Surprisingly I find myself agreeing with you again that DOM's do tend to come across as yes men - many at our level are trying to work there way through the ranks to get to a position of being able to put the pressure on others to be yes men - Hardly likely to rock the boat above are they ! Unfortunate for all of us but not suprising !
