Sorry, I forgot....this is royal mail we're talking about. :arrrghhh How about a daily sign off sheet that could be combined with the signing out sheets to say you have done your 20% or 16%, whatever the figure will be. One other thought, as D2D will be into workload, if your floater doesn't do them on your day off I would think it will strengthen your argument for cutting off as you will have double the D2D's to prep and deliver, so when they do their count this will work in your favour regarding traffic levels. Hopefully they'll soon get the message that the D2D's need to go on your day off....unless of course people just absorb the extra in their own time as happens now... :arrrghhh
just wondering how you calculate the 16.66667%?

It cant be 16.66667% of the number of items as terraced, off the pavement houses are easier than houses with long driveways.

Will d2d therefore have to be georouted like regular mail?

I would say yes...

Cant seee our line manager caring about this. He will just shrug his shoulders and say "you've been doing it in worktime up till now so get on with it."

I dont think the union have thought this through at all.

Also were told georoute has been calculated at a 100% call rate at my office and some test "loops" are over 1200 drops. Thats at current delivery spans of 3.5 hrs. God only knows how big theyre going to be when 4 days weeks or 9 day fornights come in.

This is gonna be great!

The idea that i'm going to suggest at my place is,the walk is cut up into 6 equalish (is that a word)bits.
The rest day cover and the regular will then work out between them what bits they are going to take.
The 6 bits will be in the walk log or stuck on the frame so if the walk goes out on docket daily ect then they can do their bit each day.
Simple on paper but...............

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

But if you have a regular cover and he does a different section each week over the course of 6 weeks he will have done his fair share of easy bits and hard bits.
The regular guy will always have the option of doing a double lot one day to avoid doing any on a Saturday but the floater won't.

In our D.O. we get virtually no walk sequenced mail anyway (apparently due to our distance from the M.C.)
Our DOM has told us that nothing will change in our D.O. for another 12 months... D2Ds will not arrive as part of the mail workload, we will continue throwing them in as seperate items and getting paid per item for at least another 12 months.

No plans yet which is just what you would expect from Royal Mail. I favour the 100% call rate option do one d2d each day for all your walk with cover picking one up on his day to do your walk. Which ever way offices go it will mean work for the linos. Cause if they dont manage it then all merry hell will take off as people "forget" to do d2d and others pick up the mess the following day. However the push should come from the floor to get these lazy sods out the office away from ebay and on to the floor to do the job they are paid to do MANAGE THE STAFF!!!!

Personaly I see the 100% call rate ,with the cover guy doing Dd2d on your day off,as if you do 20% a day that is a huge amount for those houses and lots of bags.
+Saturday you will have Sat special D2D.
LInos are going to have to enforce it,should not be hard for Decent Linos, although that is another topic Decent Linos, wich are very rare these days and getting
Rarer.

I was thinking something similar postman. does sound simple. You could sign or tick a section to say you had delivered them each day. The only problem would be if the sheet went missing.

im part time and as such i dont get time to do the d2d's for my walk, rather than banging my head against a wall trying to convince my union rep and manager that
a, i need to prep the door 2 doors
b, it should be done in my duty hours,

i have got a fellow postie to do them on his day off and he claims them.

I cant see how when i turn up to start my round, that the d2d's will be thrown out, and ill be having arguments daily.

most days my hours are 9am-1pm, and if im in the park and loop system ill be finishing a lot earlier than the other looper with me, yes they are probably gunna change my hours to suit but, i cant see my walk thrown out, my d2d's thrown out, the walk being completed basically as i will be the walking man whilst the driver does the specials then joins me on the delivery, making me do more walking than i currently do. If the union rep believes that they should not be prepped now and disbelieves his own unions agreements, is he going to protect the staff he represents? shambles

One good thing about this agreement is that d2d will be part of your work load and so should you go over claim O/T or cut off. Showing them that you cant put a square peg in a round hole.

Sounds like your doing a managers job there Postman.

Why should YOU have to take time out dissecting your walk and discussing whats what with, possibly, an unreasonable person?

There are people in my office that are so tightly wound that if i approached them with your plan they would lose it.

The 6 week option doesnt sound good either as we work on a weekly basis and not 6 weeks. This also applies to the fact we get paid less money for a mon-friday week. even though we do 42.5 hrs we only get 40 hrs pay. The 6 week logic is used here but i thought we were getting paid for all the hours worked. Obviously not.
