The way the Labour party deal with the BNP in East London is to give the matriarchs of large BNP supporting families cushy public sector jobs, regardless of their ability and the impact this will have on users of the service. Does the same sort of extremist appeasement go on in NI?

Sounds to me that these Branch Officials don't deserve to be voted in to any position never mind several positions. The main question is, why if they are so corrupt do they occupy several key positions and why are there no prods in Branch Positions? Sounds like a bit of a fix, does it not?

Belfast branch sound like my branch. Everyone in Belfast should check they haven't been ripped off.

I recovered money that should have been paid as pay protection. If you have had a re-pick and took a pay cut you are probably entitled to pay protection under MtSF. Please check whether this has happened to you.

Also, my management removed higher grade jobs from the template when the positions still existed. They kept the staff who did these jobs on substitution allowance for years instead of paying them temporary promotion. Substitution allowance is only meant for annual leave and sick cover and the maximum time someone can be paid it for is 13 weeks. The staff who raised grievances were backdated their temporary promotion money and each got a few thousand. However, these duties should never have been removed in the first place and management was only able to do this because the person verifying requests for template changes was line managed by our unit manager for some bizarre reason.

Sounds interesting. So how do the Labour Party "arrange" for these matriarchs to get these jobs? What sway does the Labour Party have over parts of the public sector, that anyone could be "given" jobs in this way?
Why would the Labour Party do anything for BNP supporters even if they could, and why would it be the "matriarchs" getting the alleged perks?
Or is it just something you overheard in the pub, and passed it on without giving it any thought as to it's possible veracity?

It is something I have experienced.

I know a head teacher who is a Labour Party activist. This person's school has created a lot of non teaching jobs. The majority of these jobs go to local matriarchs in an area with heavy BNP support. A lot of head teachers in East London are political. I wouldn't put it past the Labour Party to have an unofficial policy of appeasing BNP supporters and giving them jobs with indoctrination attached.

I hope Respect give Labour a good hiding.

The Labour Party wouldn't allow Labour members in Tower Hamlets to choose their own candidate.

So are these "matriarchs" (just mothers of larger families, in reality?) Labour supporters or BNP supporters, then? They happen to live in an area of "heavy BNP support" so they must support the BNP too? :so there

Ah, "you wouldn't put it past them" then? So it's just and only your supposition really?

Tman,

I am suggesting that Labour Party activists who are also managers in the public sector missuse their positions to select staff for reasons other than merit.

If people have experienced situations such as a very low quality teacher teaching their kids, they could ask the question how did that teacher get employed?

If people have not experienced what I am suggesting, they will think I am talking bollocks and not take any notice. You are annoyed by what I am suggesting because you are a supporter of the Labour Party.

The Labour Party wants to get votes from the British public. The largest group of voters are the older 'baby boom generation' and when they see their offspring getting degees they think things have got better. The trouble is that a lot of people can get degrees without actually being educated.

Why did Labour replace exams with coursework? Why would you replace a more objective system of evaluation with a subjective one?

Is it because if there was real equality of opportunity, Asians and people from other immigrant backgrounds would get all the top jobs?

If I was ignorant, couldn't pass an exam and thought that education was not for the 'working class' but I wanted money and power, I would support the Labour Party.

Two cultures have flourished under New Labour - yob culture and the Ponserati. The yobs are proud to be ignorant and back up their scorn for education by rightly claiming, 'it's not what you know, but who you know.' There is such an ingrained belief that this cannot be changed so nobody tries to change it. The Ponserati are ignorant people who really believe they are educated. However, improving your mind takes more than shopping at M&S and drinking overpriced coffee. You have to actually work on it.

The result of empowering the thick to take positions well beyond their capabilties is the shitness of our country. Why do we hardly win anything?

The British need to start doing education properly and bringing real equality of opportunity into the system. The Labour Party thinks that competition is a good thing for Royal Mail but they don't want their ignorant voters to face competition from education respecting immigrants. All citizens in this country should have equality of opportunity. The classic film 'Scarface' sums it up:

" I'm Tony Montana, a political prisoner from Cuba. And I want my f***ing' human rights, now! "

So you say, but it's only your opinion. Then again, your original point (which you've conveniently moved away from  ) was the Labour Party giving "matriarchs" of BNP supporting families cushy public sector jobs, and you've no reason to say that either, other than your (somewhat weird) opinion.
If people have experienced situations such as a very low quality teacher teaching their kids, they could ask the question how did that teacher get employed?
You could ask the same about a "very low quality postie" too, so does it follow that they might know someone in the Labour Party?
If people have not experienced what I am suggesting, they will think I am talking bollocks and not take any notice. You are annoyed by what I am suggesting because you are a supporter of the Labour Party.
Assumptions again. You're just presenting (jaundiced) opinion as factual, and I'm just pointing out the rather large holes in your posts.

Why did Labour replace exams with coursework? Why would you replace a more objective system of evaluation with a subjective one?
See? More of the same. Most courses at all levels rely on a large proportion of coursework to be completed, and have done for many years. To somehow link it to the Labour party is bizarre..

Is it because if there was real equality of opportunity, Asians and people from other immigrant backgrounds would get all the top jobs?
If I was ignorant, couldn't pass an exam and thought that education was not for the 'working class' but I wanted money and power, I would support the Labour Party.

You been listening to the pub loud-mouth again? There's little (if anything) in that rant that's worth a reply; it really is that dire.

Incidentally, you do know Tony Montana is a fictional character, and based on gangsters, don't you? Nothing clever in quoting from mobsters' tripe, just as there's nothing laudable about the mobsters themselves, unless murder, extortion, prostitution etc is something to be looked up, to in your opinion? :silenced

Scarface is a modern day version of the Shakespeare type of tragedy. The dialogue is superb and the film is a classic.

The quote I used highlights the uncomfortable reality of ingrained racism in this country, especially amoungst the politically powerful 'baby boomer' generation.

If you read the Daily Mail and get past the bitchy writing style, you will find the consensus is that immigrants should not be taking away jobs from indigenous Brits, implying that immigrants don't have equal rights.

My point is that once we are here, you have to give us our rights. Too many immigrants are too grateful for the crumbs. The character Tony Montana demands his human rights in the way that we all should.

Why do most Asians seek out the medical and accountancy professions for advancement? Why do Asian families move to grammar school areas?

The only chance they have of advancement is where independent assessment by exams is used.

Don't tell me, you're a postie of Asian parentage, and it's everyone else's fault that that's "all" you are, and not achieved a higher "status" in life?

Nice one Tman,

You are right when you say that status is important for a lot of Asians. However, I'm not really typical.

I like being a worker. Anyone who does an honest job, where they're not stitching anyone else up, should be proud. It is better to have dirty hands than a dirty conscience. I am not worried about status but I like to take any chance I get to use my mind and, of course, it's not nice to see ignorant and dishonest people getting rewarded. More money would come in handy.

I'm unhappy being under the power of an ignorant manager class as are a lot of postal workers regardless of background. I am not the only postal worker who feels they are being managed by lower quality people. The subject that got the most comments on our HYS was lack of opportunity for promotion. Personally, I don't want to be a manager but there are a few of my workmates of various backgrounds who would have liked the chance. They were denied this opportunity because our unit manager gave our management positions to his mates from his old centre.

I was quite happy just to do my job, enjoy it and enjoy the many other things I do with my time until I started to get attacked. When one of my mates was facing the sack, I began to look into things and uncovered a load of shenanigans. I started to fight back and enjoyed it. I can't believe that we are living under a feudal system and we really are because there is no realistic chance of getting another job in this economic climate.

I sincerely believe that people from immigrant backgrounds do not get equal access to higher paid jobs. I would like see the return of promotional exams for the civil service and all of the public sector.

I also think that there is a general belief that immigrants are let into this country because the British are doing them a favour. The real reason for immigration is to provide cheap labour.

There must be a way that the Labour Party can give money to the ignorant without giving them power. Then they can carry on shopping and keeping our ridiculous service economy going without stiching up other people.
