Re: Delivery of fascist election material?
Its basically awful now what royal mail gets away with. Union have aided by signing agreements. DOM might give you more than heat if you just throw them in surplus pile. They will bring in their conduct code. (are you sure you are felling well) AhemGrinder64 wrote:According to our WTL session today there is no longer a 'conscience clause' for operatives regarding the handling & distribution of election material for the likes of the BNP. Did the CWU endorse this? As someone with deeply held anti-fascist values obviously I am loathe to even give this kind of propaganda the time of day; in previous elections I have just thrown it all in the surplus pile as generally all of their stuff comes through unaddressed. Anyone got any pointers in case my DOM starts giving me heat?

BTW "Coloured" is not very precise is it. The accepted term and one I prefer is Black, or Afro-Caribbean. After all even White people are coloured - in fact despite the description Black or White neither group is in fact that colour.![]()

Three British National Party (BNP) candidates in Wales will not be using the party's name on ballot papers at the general election, it has emerged.
Instead BNP candidates in Swansea East, Swansea West and Gower will appear as "Support Our Troops Bring Them Home".
The BNP said they had not intended just to use that name, but Swansea council said it was the party's decision.
The Electoral Commission said candidates can use a different name under the regulations.
It confirmed the move was legal, as the alternative name is a properly registered description for the BNP.
Voters will be able to tell that the three are official BNP candidates only from the party logo on the ballot paper.
'Misled' claim
A spokesperson for the commission said: "Our advice to voters is always to scrutinise the ballot paper very carefully."
A BNP spokesperson confirmed all three candidates are standing for the party, and not as a splinter group.
The spokesperson said a Swansea council official misled them when they filled in the candidate forms, which was why he said the three candidates were registered under the "Support Our Troops Bring Them Home" name.
He also said the forms used by the council were more complicated than those used by most other UK local authorities.
In response, the council said: "It was the BNP representative's decision to take [to put Support Our Troops Bring Them Home on the ballot paper] and he was in no way misled by Swansea council."
The council also said nomination papers filled out by the BNP were in a standard form produced for use across the UK.
"There is no material difference between the form used by the BNP and one produced by the Electoral Commission," it added.

The Green Party are as bad as the BNP? How?Ricky Bruch wrote:All electoral material is fascist these days so what`s the difference?
They are all as bad as each other, just in different ways.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Im not unduly worried by this "misleading story" - after all, labour have been misleading you lot for years.
Im just happy to be reading this news-
Past years:
1987 – The British National Party contested 2 seats, polling 553 votes.
1992 – The British National Party contested 13 seats, polling 7,631 votes.
1997 – The British National Party contested 57 seats, polling 35,832 votes.
2001 – The British National Party contested 33 seats, polling 47,129 votes.
2005 – The British National Party contested 117 seats, polling 192,746 votes
2010- 339 parliamentary candidates-almost trebled-, and 780 local candidates , if someone can enlighten me, how many are the UAF -UNITE AGAINST FASCISM standing,
Seems like more people ploughing more money and time and effort into the party,
Seems like Labour and the prosecution service - again, have failed to close down or dampen enthusiasm for supporting/financing/victimising people in the BNP.
Onwards and upwards eh,

very good tbt
not under the labour umbrella, the safe option, where people will vote for them,
just always wondered, if uaf is such a popular belief, why they dont stand against the bnp on an anti nazi ticket, instead of interfering in elections, obstructing hustings and attacking people ?

Also told today that the conscience clause is now gone.... then 10 minutes later it was suddenly okay not to take them?
Very odd.
