It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

This includes poll cards!!!!!!! Aaaaaaarrrrrrggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
I run it passed our rep today and he said as they were 2nd class we got nothing. I guess those who did get paid had some local agreement in place.
To me despite previous postings by other members means you get paid for:This agreement covers all addressed and un-addressed free election communications marked “ELECTION COMMUNICATION” and Poll Cards
All Election material marked Election Communication both addressed and unaddressed
AND
All Poll cards - No exceptions
If it was any different it would say "including Poll Cards" instead of "and Poll Cards" that way if they do come as DSA or 1st or 2nd Class you would not get paid as they were not FREE.
However with the word "AND" this seems to me to suggest we get paid for all POLL CARDS regardless of their origin.
Thoughts
I really dont know.
Its the end of the day and i am getting tired (and had a wee drop of vino) but having read through it i cannot see where pre-paid 2nd class material falls into the agreement as it not totally clear. I can see non pre-paid such as door 2 door but as mentioned earlier these cards came in with the mech.
I will ask my rep to flag it up to area level to see if any other offices got paid but i am not holding my breath on this.

Re: Not being paid for election leaflets?
Apparently if Election material comes in the mech then you get paid hours for it. This stop people from having to count themselves how many items they have had and stops people saying they have delivered more than they have. Each office has been given hours just for this. So you may just get say 2hours each covering the whole election period. Ask your DOM's people if he has been given hours for mech election items!!

Re: Not being paid for election leaflets?
Ours were 2nd class addressed. And we should get paid for them this thursday. We were definitely told to count them and we would be getting 3p per card.
I shall keep you informed.

Yep thats exactly the same as ours today. Only again 3p per item and we get until close of play Friday to clear them.Sherpas Rule wrote:Our poll cards are out tomorrow and we have been told as they are 1st class that we won't be getting paid for them and also that they are all due out in 1 day!

Re: Not being paid for election leaflets?
Today we had another complete batch of 2nd class polling cards in with the mech , which is the second lot.
We started moaning as it was a Sat but were told straight away that we had to count them as we would be paid 3p per card
Our dom went on to say we had 3 days to deliver them. I asked about the last batch and after some chin scratching she agreed that we will get paid for them as well.
We are also being paid 3p for the 2nd class postal voting letters which also came in the mech as well.
All told should come to about £75. A nice result
Edit. Just re calculated at £62 but still happy.

Re: Not being paid for election leaflets?
Last sat we were all told for definite that we would be paid for all poll cards at the rate of 6p each (see my happy post above). We were all very happy at that as there had been two lots delivered so we were all looking at over £100 extra.
So for once something in our office had gone our way. Now our Dom has been going on about the need for us to get our payment sheets in no later than Thurs morning if we want to be paid, in fact she aint shut up about it at all. However today we are all called around the front and she is really very sorry but she has been told that we will not be paid for the poll cards after all.
What a total mess up. Being paid, not being paid. Getting 3p then getting 6p and now back to sweet FA.
I ve asked our rep to flag it up and he said he will but I cant see it going anywhere.
I would not mind but our Hoover blew up Monday and on the basis of the extra cash I ve gone and ordered a dearer one than I would have.

Re: Not being paid for election leaflets?
Shed loads of polling cards at our office today. We were told 'don't bother counting them because you're not getting paid for them'. They were RM pre paid 2nd Class and only after much creating were we given 2 days to do 'em...............suppose its that old favourite 'local agreement' again eh???!

Re: Not being paid for election leaflets?
By the way, have just read the stickie on this subject and in 2009, the statement was:
This payment does not apply
to any other addressed election items marked as first
or second class.
those of you who got the £45 fair play

Re: Not being paid for election leaflets?
I dunno i am totally fed up with the whole thing. They made us count the last lot which took 15 mins extra on a sat which i did not mind because they said we would be getting paid. We all feel robbed now, no ones happy. Just the agreement to worm its way in and that will about finish us off.
Edit. Never mind the suns shinning and getting warmer

Re: Not being paid for election leaflets?
We have had all election premium bonuses witheld, apparently it will be a lump sum after its all over.
So where are the multiple photocopiers to allow us all to document our weekly claims and then not forget tallys over several weeks???
This Thursday just gone, I was expecting to find a "Brucey bonus" for 400 Labour cards and an estimate of 900 polling cards (not informed they were claimable until round was bundled up, so guestimated 900 based on 475 resendial drops), but alas no...

MP EXPENSES SCANDAL = (POST ELECTION INCOME FOR MP) & ELECTION LEAFLETS NOT PAID = (PRE-ELCTION OUTCOME)
