Moved to blue shirts forum.

PS:Your manager is a twonk!
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Since that night I havent been able to sleep proparly(maxium 3 hours a night, most nights getting by on 1.5 hours) and my doctor has issued me with a sickline(1 week at 1st, today was given another 2 weeks) and also given me Sleeping pills which aint helping.

Now today my Manager returned from holiday and I was in handing in my sickline, and he said he was challenging the sick line as he doesnt see why I cant work in doors? He referred my case to ATOS who he said would contact me in the next 48 hours. He also said I should know that Dog attacks are part and parcel of being a Postman. He said the longer I'm off the harder it will be to get me back into work(not sure what he meant by this but seems to me he is threatening me over my job, which is the last thing I need right now!).

Now speaking with my parents they said this is bullying and trying to get me back to work when Im in no fit state to work due to lack of sleep and that I should contact my Union Rep and report it.

Does anybody agree with this? Any Union reps on here able to help?

Thanks in advance
The "longer you're off, the harder it'll be to come back" just refers to you delaying coming back and getting on with it because of what's happened. Biting the bullet as it were. I don't think it's a threat about your job. Usually people with trauma/depression etc who stay off work end up getting worse as they've a) got nothing to take their mind off the issue and b) get "used" to staying at home. Health professionals recommend you actually doing something rather than sitting at home such as light exercise etc. Going back into work on indoor duties is merely to reduce the manager's sick hours, get you off the sick so you're not damaging the budget and also to get you back into the swing of things rather than sitting at home moping about.

I'm not saying you are moping about btw, I'm just hoping to clarify what the manager meant.

However, something like this is bound to be traumatic and I'd ask ATOS to refer you for counselling before you'll go back to work. Ask for face to face rather than over the phone (they'll always struggle to find someone locally to you though!!). Things move quicker with ATOS if you stay off work.

This is actually sound advice.I'll admit I was a bit shaken at the time of my dog attack, can still picture it leaping for my face when I close my eyes to this day,but going back to work was probably the best thing I done.Completely took my mind off it.

I was back within a few days and working in the callers office etc.As was said previously, moping wont help.

Ive been off sick for over seven months, waiting for Atos to sort out, if I will be Ill health retired . I have had face to face interviews and several on the phone with Atos
They have reports from Doc and Neuro and yet now they want another phone interview , before making a report for RM. My manager is like me tearing his hair out at all these delays

I bet he is then they will downgrade the `promised` FULL pension to 34 weeks pay and a fook off!
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

Your DOM didn't tell you about that? get on the phone to cwu pronto.A few hundred in your sky rocket will ease the pain :Very Happy
---------------------------------------------------------------------
was there a warning about the dog?
is there now a warning card about this dog -so another colleague doesn't suffer the same fate.

RM policy is supposed to be to support people who suffer attacks like that.

report attack to the police
check your tetanus is up to date
see your legal and medical rep for an LS3 form.

and contact atos (asap)

good luck

p.s - your doc will tell you on the "fit note" what you can do when you return to work
