Don't get my D2D's prepped but mail is presorted on my frame. I just do the killing off and redirections then mark parcels to letters for delivery and bundle up. I start my walk around 10:30 sometimes a little later depending on when i get out the DO... Don't take a break in the day as i'd rather finish ontime and i take drinks and my dinner around with me anyway.

The D2D's on a quiet day when i'm ahead i prep before going out on my walk otherwise prep back at the office after my round.. doesn't take long but i have yet to finish at 2.

Was never told any of this really though, my D2D's i just assumed i'd prep in my own time otherwise they wouldn't get done.
You start at 9:00 your frame is prepped but you don't get out til 10:30? What do you do for 90 mins?

You prep your door to doors the day before? Don't you just want to get home? Doesn't the person who preps your frame mind that there's door to doors in the way?

When I had my own walk, if I tried prepping door to doors beforehand, the person prepping the frame would just pull them out. At the very least I'd have to go through them to see if he'd slipped letters into the pages of the door to doors.

Misread, usually do lapsing first then i get on my walk by 10:30 they are both a good 15 minute drive apart sometimes longer because of roadworks and whatnot around here. The guy who usually preps my frame told me to just chuck in the D2D's or i'll never have time to get them done, don't mind what time i finish at the moment just want to manage the workload as for me being new its a bit daunting sometimes especially when i'm carrying a lot of packets.. I usually come in earlier on the busier days just to get everything done.

i am on a 25 hour contract but on average work 40 hours a week,i started exactly 6 months ago as a reserve covering people on holiday,i am now on a floating duty with most rounds have over 800 delivery points, everyday i am asked to come in early to put up the frame which they give me an hour and 15 mins, usually takes me an hour to do unless its really heavy, they also give me another 30 mins to tie down and do my bumps,i aso have time to make up the 20 percent of the d2ds within that 1 hour 45 mins, usually get out of office at 9 and usually finished by 12.30 although this week was finished before 12 everyday, they ask me to work my day off everyweek,i was also wandering what happens now that my 6 month probation period is over? do i sign a new contract? payrise?

Thinking back to when I started, I'd go in stupidly early to try to get finished on time. I thought there was something wrong with me, that I'd never get the hang of it, but you do, eventually (if you have a half decent walk). At the end of my first week someone says to me are 'are you going to do those door to doors?'. What are door to doors I said ! No one mentioned them, I didn't know why there were piles of leaflets under my frame. It was weeks after that I was told I was supposed to be signing for them to get paid for doing them
I'd try all kinds to get them done, prepping them all at once on a monday (went in once after my day off to find they'd been pulled out and chucked under frame), taking handfuls out with me, doing a few every day etc etc.
So, you have my sympathy.

I got a letter saying that I'd completed period successfully, a pay rise, and hand shake from dom.

In answer to the question - they don't work.
Reading the posts on this forum it would seem no DOM has any intention of making them work either.
The 25 hr contract people are usually the least experienced in the office yet they take the biggest shafting.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Seems every office has a different system, im on 25 hrs and recently our DO has instituted the following: P/T lapse everyday, F/T prep the P/T walks, when we return from lapsing our walks were to be prepped, bundled and bagged. So far theyve quickly forgotten the bagging, ive had my walk bundled ONCE and of late the round hasnt even been fully prepped. (So what the f**k is my incentive to laspe everyday when the part of the deal that makes the walk possible isnt being met?)
