For the record there has been a lot of debate and argument over the national agreement. It would seem that some senior managers who dont like the new national agreement are causing mischief.

Johnathan Powell who is a senior Royal Mail manager who negotiated the door to door agreement with Bob Gibson is wrong and trying to claim the agreement does not state the following THIS AGREEMENT COVERS ALL ADDRESSED AND UN ADDRESSED FREE ELECTION COMMUNICATION AND POLL CARDS (EXCLUDING PROXY POLL CARDS ). IT REPLACES ALL PREVIOUS NATIONAL /LOCAL AGREEMENTS COVERING THE DELIVERY OF ELECTION MATERIALS AND POLL CARDS.

Why well Jon Powell was referring to a previous draft of the agreement and not the one which was agreed.

Royal Mail have now recieved all the full documentation in a zip file regarding the national agreement as Peter Walls was not in the industry when the national agreement was agreed.

Royal Mail want to re-negotiate the national agreement after the election and they did try and put it in workload but only offered a £1 per week.

Bob is awaiting confirmation that Royal Mail will abide by the national agreement in full.

To say temperatures are high would be an understatement.

Put it this way unless Royal Mail accept that the national agreement is the one the union is quoting and then abides by its full terms then lets just say some of you who moan a lot will have to step up to the plate and force them to.

Watch this space. You may need to put your money where your mouth is. This is serious.
The grand old Duke of York,
He had ten thousand men;
He marched them up to the top of the hill,
And he marched them down again.

And when they were up, they were up,
And when they were down, they were down,
And when they were only half-way up,
They were neither up nor down.

Oh well lets get ready for battle again :evil/mad at the end of it there will be a new era of understanding and trust, all will be sweetness and light, but you won't even be given the courtesy of receiving a copy of the agreement that you are expected to vote on, but never mind the PEC are there to protect your interests and hold the union officers to account on any deals that are reached, oh hang on the PEC are now involved in making the deals :no no I thought they were elected to hold the executive to account, oh well its off to the front again hope General Haig I mean Hayes knows what he's doing :angel

I think that you'll find that not many will be willing to go out on the gate for the CWU. After standing firm last time , only to be sold out by a pay cut, I think that the union has over stayed its welcome in my office, with many telling the REP that "its the last time that you'll get me on the gate."

We all stood firm, RM caved in, CWU said well done lads-now leave it to us now - we gave up our advantage only to have CWU to come back with a SH*T deal.

Some of you need to understand that there are the hawks in this business and there are the doves. The doves got the national agreement and I do believe know full well that they cant introduce the level of change they need to everywhere succesfully if they dont build a new relationship with the union. Yes they can introduce it in the places/areas they normally do who are always the first to surrender but they cant do that everywhere.

The likes of Higson , Haddon and Walls do want I do believe a new relationship with the union or otherwise they would not have put all their plans on hold and then be willing to change some of them.

However there are others in this bussiness who didnt like the interim agreement , who wanted to keep on attacking and now dont like the new national agreement as it has in their view too much union involvement including in all their standards , it introduces improved attendances which one of the chief hawks last year decided to remove all improved attendances which caused 20 days of strike action.

The Hawks clearly dont want the agreement. They in the main are the old guard who still hate the union.

They are attempting to undermine the elections agreement which is unacceptable. That is why it will be very interesting whether the hawks or the doves win. Will the elections agreement be sorted or will we need to act.

Rockyton I am certainly not someone who marches up the top the hill , but sometimes you have to fight for good terms and conditions , its a shame some on here dont and then blame other people for that fact.

I was always taught that in Royal Mail your either a walk over office or your a stand up for yourself office. The ones who stand up for themselves invariably get the best deals the ones who dont get attacked.

Now Dvbuk I have no ego , you obviously dont know me .On the other hand you must be perfect as nothing is ever your fault its always the fault of 150 the Broadway.

From the great man himself, who will be recognised by all, no it's Rabbie Burns, dingo.

Now lets see where the blame should lie, is it my fault, who has never negotiated a national agreement, have never spoken to all these great and good from RM and the CWU, and don't get paid to sort these problems out or is it those who have full time release, full time salaries and are elected to deal with these issues - well of course it must be me.

I have been on the picket line every time a strike has been called and have always supported the union WHEN IT IS DESERVED - loyalty is a double edged sword dingo.

Dingo,

Are the doves the ones that stick to agreements and the hawks the ones that break them?

If a manager fails to follow procedure and gains financially (bonus) as a result, this could be seen as fraud. Managers who deliberately break RM procedures should be dismissed. The CWU should start using its lawyers to attack rogue managers. Don't make their behaviour acceptable by calling them 'hawks'.

Weak offices are weak because the volunteer reps to not get adequate support from their professional reps. It doesn't look good when you blame members and volunteers for being weak but still take their money.

Good one Spillie made me :Very Happy .

But dont worry i am sure "the doves" will win the day :left: .

Thought they may be trouble post "2010 & Beyond" seems RM have the confidence & bravado to start now.

I wonder why, is there a national union anywhere looking after downtrodden members.

Alas no, just one looking after own self interests and feeding their "weak members" sh!t to justify their actions.
This ain't no baseball game, you get only one chance and you blew it.

Do Bob & Dave now realise that RM will continue to screw us all in light of the new agreement we have been balloted on??

Why oh why?

The whole thing is a giant mess now.

I remmember you mentioning this before and that the union held off on this because of the close proximity of the genral election.
Have to say from north of the border this looks like a bad deal to me...remmember we have elections to the Scottish Parliament as well as genral elections and EU elections.

£1 per week doesn't cover it.

We're not alone in this Wales and Northen Ierland also have Assembaly elections, and i would have thought HQ also have to factor in Mayoral elections in your patch too. Maybe even an English Parliament in the Future.

ps I do realise that it would probably incur O/T to be able to complete, but i don't see how it could be factored into workload, as there is useually no election material then a whole load at once.

What's the issue?
The issue is, mine and many other offices don't even know if we're getting paid for them yet. All we've been told is that if we're over our time whilst delivering the poll cards we've to stick a docket in, then come the time when/if they decide we're getting a payment they will take back the overtime paid to us and give us whatever they decide on what it is pence per item.

we delivered our local election polling cards last week and where told no payment for them, starting tomorrow we've got the national election polling cards to deliver. again no payment and the reason is because they came in walk sorted. union rep has told dom about the election material agreement, the dom has contacted the area election manager (if there is such a thing) who says we don't get paid.

on monday myself and several others will be approaching the union rep and informing him of our intention to take industrial action if we do not get paid.

how can you have one set of top managers (doves) and another (hawks) wanting to sabotage the election [payment agreement just because they don't agree with it. bad luck you idiots it's a national agreement that has been sighed off, it's got nothing to do with your own personal opinion on whether you actually agree to it. the top managers that are playing up over this agreement should be removed from the business asap. They are liabilities.
