When we lose further contracts and Royal Mail start closing delivery offices as well as Mail Centres, massive job losses, will you start message boards about your new employers?
Maybe tescochat.co.uk or b&Qchat.co.uk or tntchat.co.uk.
Or for some - jobcentrepluschat.co.uk!!!
These strikes are not just about postmen, everyone will lose out if these strikes continue - LOSE / LOSE
Maybe tescochat.co.uk or b&Qchat.co.uk or tntchat.co.uk.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Now I do not know where DOM has been for the last weeks, is'nt this what royal mail attempting to do anyway, ie: Coventry, Gloucester, Reading. As far as I can see, how does it benefit joe public if you transport mail from Reading and Gloucester to Swindon for sorting.DOM wrote:When we lose further contracts and Royal Mail start closing delivery offices as well as Mail Centres, massive job losses, will you start message boards about your new employers?

I think I stand a lot more chance of keeping my job as an experienced delivery person than you do as an experienced seat warmerDOM wrote:When we lose further contracts and Royal Mail start closing delivery offices as well as Mail Centres, massive job losses, will you start message boards about your new employers?

Perhaps you could start your own messageboard and invite your fellow parasites. How about:

To be honest DOM I just can't understand why you cant even see it from our viewpoint (Ok you don't agree with it I understand that ). But why should we accept less pay for more work. Especially when one of our leaders has had a massive bonuses for only working part time.
When the say they can't afford more pay (I'll accept a pay freeze but that's beside the point) yet spend a small fortune on plasma TVs that very few can see and rarely get used.
Also why do I have to accept worsening conditions being imposed just on their say so. I am a member of a union within a democracy and I am allowed to have my own views on whether or not their offer is worth striking about. Would be interested in your opinions but you only seem to start threads and rarely present your views.

Dom - look to the future
We are making a stand now because we want a future in and for a service (not a business) that is an important part of our culture and community.
I have mentioned in other posts the fact that whilst RM and it's managers are preoccupied with the top 500 posting and paying businesses, it's staff serve all 60 million plus domestic customers here in the UK and many abroad.
You and many like you have all toed the company line and delivered it's now painfully repetitive propaganda without ever realising that as individuals you are no more than tools, but as a united group you are a force for change.
Secretly all managers yearn to turn round to the man at the top and say "you can't do that - it's wrong" because you instinctively know what is really needed, whether it be more staff, more innovation or merely a resting time to let new practices prove themselves without constantly harrying and disrupting a workforce that is doing a hard job very well.
Instead of trying to undermine and belittle our efforts - have the courage to speak to your colleagues and your union and get your arse off that comfy chair and join us - we don't mind being managed because your part of the job is needed and necessary - but we want to be managed by people worthy of our respect and who lead and encourage rather than chase and blame.
The budgets are unimportant - will the government close us down if we make a loss - I don't think so - Leighton and Crozier are not used to public service and have probably never relied on it to any great extent - so let them pursue their dreams of wealth elsewhere and let us simply earn a decent living doing what we do well and what they don't understand.

I agree with your point about plasmas. If we had to have them why put them in canteens, which dont get used anymore?
I do find it difficult in WTL&L to give the reason for lapsing duties is because mail is down as you will know if you work in a delivery office, we are delivering more year on year. Profit is down, but not because the mail is down, it's because the money we are getting paid for delivering is down. One of the reasons for this is because it's not only Royal Mail who are feeling the squeeze but so are our customers. Their marketing budgets are less, so they down grade the product they buy from us eg MS3 instead of MS2 or go to DSA. For the postmen, same amount of mail to deliver but Royal Mail getting paid less for it - not your fault. While the mail is still here to be delivered it's difficult see how the business is struggling but just imagine if we didn't have the DSA and our competitors delivered it themselves (which they will in the future) how much work would be gone? I know some of the narrow-minded on here will say "great - early finish" but most of realise that it would be dissasterous. Royal Mail have to react now and summer lapsing is one of the ways. Some offices can's do that so have to look at other ways. eg cut pressure overtime, look at unfair wear and tear on vans.
I'm sure if you look at your own offices you will see where some money can be saved(dont say on managers!). Bring your ideas forward. I'd be quite happy to have postmen saying "Hey that wont work but what if we try it this way?" instead of just saying "NO".
I'm sure you all agree that we all need to work together on this. Lets be positive. Let's work smarter! Sorry about the rant. I'm sure I will be shot down.

I'll just wait until the industry is collectivised before I consider coming up with any ideas to make things better. Let those people who are paid to manage get themselves out of the hole they've dug for us all.DOM wrote:I agree with your point about plasmas. I think that those at the top (Royal Mail and CWU) need to start working together and then it might flow throught to us.IWW Fellow Worker wrote:I'll just wait until the industry is collectivised before I consider coming up with any ideas to make things better.
