Election Material-Agreement Ignored
Subject: Election Material
Peter
I have one simple request as I am now fed up with all the scurrilous interpretations that are being banded about regarding the national agreement that was reached between Royal Mail and the CWU in 2005.
The so called agreement that has been banded about by Royal Mail is nothing short of a disgrace – it is not the document that was agreed.
I will yet again produce for all to see the words that were agreed, and subsequently cleared with the Postal Executive they are simple and to the point and can only be interpreted in one way.
Scope of this Agreement
This agreement covers all addressed and un-addressed free election communications marked “ELECTION COMMUNICATION” and Poll Cards (excluding Proxy Poll Cards). It replaces all previous national and / or local agreements covering the delivery of election materials and poll cards from the date of this agreement.
The national agreement clearly states that poll cards will be paid for, except proxy poll cards.
The question that has to be answered is - Are you going to honour the national agreement?
Bob Gibson
CWU Assistant Secretary - Outdoor

"Are you going to honour the National Agreement"
RM response maybe ?. Why we never have done in the past so why should we start now.
So much for new era of trust, and as a side thought funny way of RM to encourage a yes vote

Whatever his answer is it is bound to be a plus value for a yes vote instead of the simple truth.fishtank wrote:Some managers are playing games with the poll cards..belle smith wrote:Is your DOM trying to not pay you's for election material fishtank?

Delivered poll cards last week. Paid this week - on time, in full - no problem. 5p per card.
What's the issue?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Election Material-Agreement Ignored
You do have such a big chip on your shouldar dvbuk , its always someone elses thought in your world.
For the record there has been a lot of debate and argument over the national agreement. It would seem that some senior managers who dont like the new national agreement are causing mischief.
Johnathan Powell who is a senior Royal Mail manager who negotiated the door to door agreement with Bob Gibson is wrong and trying to claim the agreement does not state the following THIS AGREEMENT COVERS ALL ADDRESSED AND UN ADDRESSED FREE ELECTION COMMUNICATION AND POLL CARDS (EXCLUDING PROXY POLL CARDS ). IT REPLACES ALL PREVIOUS NATIONAL /LOCAL AGREEMENTS COVERING THE DELIVERY OF ELECTION MATERIALS AND POLL CARDS.
Why well Jon Powell was referring to a previous draft of the agreement and not the one which was agreed.
Royal Mail have now recieved all the full documentation in a zip file regarding the national agreement as Peter Walls was not in the industry when the national agreement was agreed.
Royal Mail want to re-negotiate the national agreement after the election and they did try and put it in workload but only offered a £1 per week.
Bob is awaiting confirmation that Royal Mail will abide by the national agreement in full.
To say temperatures are high would be an understatement.
Put it this way unless Royal Mail accept that the national agreement is the one the union is quoting and then abides by its full terms then lets just say some of you who moan a lot will have to step up to the plate and force them to.
Watch this space. You may need to put your money where your mouth is. This is serious.

Without even getting past the ballot the agreements of the past aren't even being honoured - maybe its time you and yours stood up to the plate and put your money where your mouth is and backed the membership for a change. Nothings changed and nothing will change, RM pat you guys on the head and away you go happy as larry.
