Election Payments 3p or 6p

Post by Charlotte4 »

It seems bizarre that all units get different amounts for delivering Election material. In my area one unit receives 3p whislt another less than a mile away gets 6p.

Is this the daftest and most unfair agreement ever.

I'm afraid that the CWU see's fit to negotiate different payrates and conditions for employees doing the same job. A bit like the 2010 deal, winners and ....... well you get the point.

All Election material including poll cards (where appropriate) will
attract a core unit rate payment of 3.5p per item and a Quality
Payment rate of 2.5p per item.

this was for the last election and there hasnt been an agreement for this one so surely we revert back to the last one.

your right cutoffking this is the world of local agreements which benefit the strong and punish the weak, but you can always go to the cwu for help oh no wait a minute dingo and co have blamed the so called weak offices for most of bad deals that have been done, but wait a minute they are allowing local agreements again with the new deal so wouldn`t that mean a lot more bad deals..................................

Look prior to the national agreement there was loads of different variations of payments for election material some had pence per item , some had overtime and some did not have anything..

The union debated this issue on loads of occasions and there was a fear that those with the best agreements would have to take a cut in order to fund those who did them for nothing and those who did not get more than door to door.

The union at conference agreed that we should get a national agreement which did not mean winners and losers and thats what they got. Of course if you were earning nothing you could not go straight up to 6.5 pence but you got higher than you started with.

This agreement was supported by the whole of the union, in fact what helped was an office from Leeds who came to conference who were out on unofficial strike action becasue they were being asked to perform election material for nothing.

In fact the London agreement which included the conisence clause became the benchmark for the national agreement. In fact it done what you all support the national agreement removed all local agreements.

So why is it that those taking 3 D2D's week in-week out are being asked to take a PAYCUT in order to fund those who take little or no D2D's

SO WHY THE DOUBLE STANDARDS ?

:Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause This just about sums it up. I've had a gut full of this company and this union. Theres always some excuse about why people are getting better terms than others. It stinks. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it. If it's 3p an item we should all get that, if its 6p an item we should all get that...simple. I'd love to know how some of these reps are negotiating these deals. what are their barganing tools to get 6p an item when others can only "negotiate" 3p an item?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
