That must have taken some searching out. I stand by it anyhow. Did you find many of my posts criticizing RM? Why don't you show them. I am not on any particular side, I want to find the best way through and go with the best reasoning at the time.spilie wrote:posted in 2008 banner mmmmm makes me wonder ........................banner18 wrote:Basically, if you are new, then you will not be entitled to any kind of driver allowances. One of the many things taken from us over the past few years. One of the few allowances left are D2D payments but RM has it in its sights to remove them.
Also this is different, the D2D monies are being redistributed, not taken away. I would be against RM taking the D2D money away entirely like they did with some driver allowances.

The Union has sold nobody out, has claimed by some
Its a forward thinking agreement to protect jobs, the D2D money would be lost or reduced, fact, they have acted now to get a better supplement.
The job is changing, the Union cant ignore it, voting NO will not make things go away, walk sequencing machines are on the way, they will decimate indoor work, the Union has had to protect work/jobs, now, not when its too late.
Some of it we wont like, D2D, Saturdays etc, but they have done the best they can, in my view.
I think it will be a YES vote, just.
Great post. Sometimes an organization has to lead, not just follow or reflect the views of its members. The union have had to look at the big picture regarding this agreement. It is easy for people to just look at certain parts that might affect them and then just reject the whole thing. I'll admit that I had a few reservations when I read the document, but it was bound to have vagaries due to it having to satisfying both parties. It is the spirit of the agreement that is the most important for me.

The "spirit" of the agreement? I think I'd concentrate on the words of the agreement because THAT is what will be implemented. Spirit means - ghost, an insubstantial ethereal being.banner18 wrote:wetrix wrote:Dingo, good points

The words in the agreement are fine. For instance, delivery spans will not be limited. They are to be an enabler is fine as long as they arrived at by mutual consent and advantages. They are not fine if some managers used unlimited spans to abuse people as and when. That is what is meant by the spirit, not a ghost as you say.

And also dingo, when the stuff is automated that 30,000 will go down considerably, what then? That is a loss of traffic far greater than the volume going down s**t we're going through now.numan wrote:As the amount of D2D items is obviously going to vary from week to week, exactly how is the weekly varying of duty times going to be achieved in the real world?dingo wrote:
The fact is now Door to Door is in workload and will now mean if you have 10 000 delivery points and and each of those get 3 items then your traffic in the office is increased by 30 000 items which is now measured and say you have a 10 prep rate for these items then that means protentially 50 hours more in your office to prep them and of course you then have to deliver those items or say you have 500 delivery points more or the less the average in the country as there are only 28 million addresses then if you have 3 items per week then that is 1500 items which now needs to be factored in on your prep and delivery and based on 10 prep rate again then that is 2.5 hours more time on your prep which has to be built into your duty. Plus if you have 500 delivery points and you include door to door into workload and your call rate is 85 it moves up to 88. If your call rate is 75% then it moves up to 80. That means on geo route you will retain more hours in your office.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
