You claim:

"The reason RML takes DSA is because it takes the view that its better to take SOME money than NONE."

RML didn't get a choice. The regulator decided that RM should deliver competitors' mail the 'final mile' and the regulator decides how much we charge them.

If the DSA guys had to provide the Universal Service Obligation as they do in Finland, it wouldn't be worth their while poaching our best earners.

For some reason, Mandelson wants to hand over the most profitable parts of RM to private firms. The Labour party decided to carry out liberalisation in this way and they are being helped to finish the job by the CWU.

The CWU serves itself first, the Labour Party second and its members last.
Minster your wrong again , the regulator did decide that Royal Mail had to deliver competitors mail the final mile but it was Adam Crozier and not Post comm who agreed the access price one of the biggest mistakes ever. Royal Mail USO obligation now totals 60% of Royal Mail`s overall costs and that will only increase as competitors share of the market increases.

The Labour Government sold us out that is true.

However your last comment that the CWU serves its members last sums up your bitterness.

Well tell that to the thousands of members who need reps to reprsent them at 1st stage , second stage warnings and RTUs , ETs , reach agreements which people are now fighting to keep , plus help members via legal and medical cases, dog bites etc , harrassment cases , a welfare fund , and loads more. Plus we are the biggest voluntary organisation in the UK ( trade union ) .

Or are our members better off in your opinion out of the union as long as they have access to the intrenet and the grievance procedure. I am sure that will help them when they are being bullied by a manager in a delivery unit.

The Sun also told readers that we'll be on a 38hr week with a £40 a week pay rise. If they say it's good, it must be :chuckle :chuckle

On the deivery span you will agree that in the revision 6 step process after you have surveyed the staff and that the tools for the job are in place .
Now why do Royal Mail want to put a cap on D2Ds?

Is it they don't have the capacity to deal with a large influx of extra work?

Yes grow it in a realistic and manageable fashion.....But pay those that delivery them a fair percentage as the product grows, NOT a one off payment up front, with the option of more work for what is really less money.

Yes we can all harp on that time will be made available to "prep" the D2Ds, but as the amount we get grows are we realistically going to get the walk revised to allow for the extra D2Ds? because as RM have stated they want to utilize all hours worked.

If you make allowances to "prep" 5 D2Ds, and that week you only have 2, then there is spare time that is not being used!

Or is it as I have heard is that the Thames Valley are going to be trialing it out first? Then everyone else will follow :whistle

Dingo,

Postcomm have the final say on DSA prices not Royal Mail. If they didn't, they wouldn't be able to regulate the postal sector.

I am not bitter but I am angry at the poor service that members and volunteer reps get from professional union officials. There are a lot of offices that have poorly trained and supported reps. When things go wrong, paid union officials try to put all the blame on the reps. I volunteer my free time to help people who are not getting what they pay for, ie. effective representation. I can do this best by not being tied to the IR framework.

The union needs fresh blood and it is time for the incumbents to go. The longer the old lot hold on, the more members will leave.

Really? Or just your opinion based on the repetitive postings on here?
really, unless you have been living on mars, you might have noticed many objections to this deal not just mine,or do you walk around with your eyes shut........ :arrrghhh
Going by previous posts,(where's rockytony btw) CWU members in HIS office are few and far between.
Postman I've given up on NT the blokes got the hide of an elephant :Very Happy but have you noticed he's taken down his Dave Ward/Shriek avatar and is supporting the deal :chuckle hes one of my heroes(I know I'm easily pleased) you couldn't make him up. Anyway I'm not happy with the way this union is going, having PEC members involved in negations and then voting whether to put the deal out to the members, as if they are neutral is wrong :cry also sending out the ballot papers without the agreement is an absolute disgrace :cry many of us losing thousands of pounds or our promised pension and we did nothing :cry and don't start me on the unfair way P/T are being treated, anyway I will wait with baited breath to see NT's new avatar, I need cheering up

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Night Tonic,

What happened to your green face?

As I've said before, nearly all of your posts can be replaced with, "Oh, don't be ridiculous," and the appropriate histrionics.

Postcomm have the final say on DSA prices. If they didn't they wouldn't be able to regulate.

The green face was replaced with a much more appropriate part of the anatomy, which he usually speaks out of, BUT postman quite rightly censored it - who would want to look at a green bum? :angel :chuckle
