Duties have to be set to a certain time frame, whether some in the office are 3.5, some 4, some 4.5 and some 5. They still have to have a set time frame.
Not, well its light so you might be to take another row of a frame if time allows. Time wont allow, it will be set in stone. Every little thing will be set in stone, otherwise it just wont work.
I thought the CWU said traffic figures will be continuously monitored and applied to deliveries on a daily basis? The agreement actually states that delivery spans are not set in stone, they are merely an enabler.
Duty time is duty time
No duty time spare, no extra row if somebody has gone sick!!!

All this agreement does with its vague nonsence is provide doms even more scope for bullying and while it might not work in some offices it does in mine.Imagine working alongside 40 people 37 of whom never say a word, i'm sure if the dom said he was going to ram a stick up everyones rear they'd accept it ,although the rep would want a say in what kind of wood was used. And don't even get me started on this top 10% rubbish.have they been reading the recruiting manual for the waffen ss.

Don't jump for joy with that, cause that aint right.
The % WILL go up but it won't be 100%

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

4 x 8 and 1 x 7 - sounds a bit better than 5 x 7hrs 48 minute days (and certainly easier for rm to plan)

The problem with that TBT is that saturday's HAVE to be planned as a normal working day now with a normal days workload..
If you plan it around 7hrs would RM not rightly ask how a "normal day's workload can be achieved in 7 hrs?

As I understand it its last letter 3pm, not finishing time,we're last letter 2pm at the moment with a finish time from 2:15-2:30(getting back too office etc.),so with a last letter 3pm it'll be finishing time around 3:15-3:30.Home by 4,completely knackered,no work-life balance there then

Well you have a good point there dubdaz - whatever happened to the family friendly policy of not so long ago - you know the old work/life balance - has that now suffered at the hands of the "financial backdrop" of Royal Mails ills.
They talk a good tale these union bods right enough - still isn't that how they got to the position they're in?

I never mentioned anything about covering sick at short notice, but if traffic figures are known to be heavier on particular days RM will be able to rearrange how your hours are allocated over the week.

Dont know if this is regional, but we have just been told that RM in our area are offering a free trial period for D2D's.
If this is true,(i think it maybe as it comes from a reiable source), then it has serious connetations.
First ly, RM must be convinced of a yes vote, and secondly,we could be hit with some serious sh.t sooner rather than later.
Has any other region heard anything similar?

I noticed this as well when Dave Ward (or one of the other talking heads) said most deliveries would be finished by 2/2.30 on a Saturday.
How exactly does this stack up against rm saying they want us to work the hours we are paid?

Most offices will put part of their break at the end of their duty, add on travelling time back to the office and pouching off(on paper),you could look at a possibly finishing an hr before your duty actually finishes.
