Re: Yes Vote From Me
Can you believe this, this morning one of our members actually asked a manager which way they should vote,WTF is the matter with people.
I'm not advocating yes or no, but for gawd sake have your own mind.

Re: Yes Vote From Me
yes sherlock it is the same driverjoe, but since that posting last year i have had to transfer to a m/c due to medical reasons, when working in a voc you tend to be out of touch with whats going on in the rest of royal mail, but now my eyes are starting to open , as well as collecting mail from this DO i also take mail there, mainly ms 2 and ms 3, but what really surprise's me is that the postie's come in during the time i am there (17:00 -18:20) to see what i have brought in so they can do some preping on their delivery. madness or what.spilie wrote:surely not the same driverjoe?driverjoe wrote:i work in a voc, the mood with the 100 hgv driver's i work with is not to strike, the rep has been going through the duties ready for a resign. Can someone tell me why we should go out on strike for london, it seems london want to reverse everything that has happened in the last year, 4 day weeks on delivery? and working 1 day on s/a, when most of the country is on a 5 day week.
if a strike is called so near to xmas you could find that most office's will attend for work, do you really want to break the cwu.
there are 20 people who work in this DO.
I am there for 1hr 20mins as i have to seg the mail from the driver's coming in from the other sub offices.
i have also seen a postie take a packet to deliver at 17:30 as he just popped in to do some prepping and then went and delivered the packet what i brought in as it was on his round.
belle, thank you for your post, i do hope that this is a only small amount of DO's doing this.

Re: Yes Vote From Me
So if the workforce want to strike we have to ask the CWU if it's ok? I think we are talking technicalities here BD.Big Daz wrote:Pat Ostman wrote:

Re: Yes Vote From Me
No. You must have a valid Ballot, or the Strike is illegal (Wildcat).

Re: Yes Vote From Me
The point is if there was an over-whelming demand for a strike, it's for the CWU hierarchy to organise it ASAP.
It's NOT for the hierarchy to say no to a strike if the rank and file call for one.
{Although a dozen hot-head keyboard warriors on RMC doesn't constitute "overwhelming demand"..

Re: Yes Vote From Me
Well it wouldn't be the first time in my RM career and it does wonders for getting the union down to your place believe me and then threaten to leave and they are like flies round a cow pat. People tend to forget THEY are OUR employees.Big Daz wrote:Pat Ostman wrote:

Will there be unrest in DOs if this goes through ................................ well I wouldn't bet against it, the idea that all problems will be solved locally with ACAS assistance without interruption to service looks good on paper but then again reality has a habit of biting you in the ar5e.

Joe theres a load of guys in my office who are no longer in the union, or where never in the union but would never work through a strike official or unofficial!!driverjoe wrote:belle, thank you for your post, i do hope that this is a only small amount of DO's doing this.
The one guy in our office who did work throught the official action was recently hauled away by IB.
