mclovin wrote:Geo-route doesnt work on single days, it works on a one size fits all type program.

Meaning it will run on 100% every day, regardless of whether you're going to 100% or not.

And it will have to run it at significantly lower than 4mph, as that is not feasible with trolleys.

I don't understand where you're getting this 100% call rate from? It's certainly not from CWU HQ.

If they want day specific d2d's, or even 6 per week, thats 1 per day, thats 100%.

Geo-route wont/cant calculate whats coming in or not coming in, so duties will have to be produced at 100% EVERY day. At a speed of maybe 2mph, even that may be too high.

Like I said, thats down to the planners, NOT D.O managers.

on a more sinister note one ft was sacked last week (appeal pending)in our do re not completing d2d and claiming them
this week pt suspended( dismissal will follow) for failing to complete d2d and claiming them
previously ft taken into office and warned to complete d2d even though floater on their day off refused to do them if refusing to complete said person would be suspended for willful delay with dismissal to follow
one thing in common all were pulled on the sat morning to complete
bear in mind this is in the new cooperation between mgmt and members trust etc etc etc
can see whats coming

Well nothing has been clearly stated in writing but I'll accept that on day specific D2D days then 100% call rate will probably be planned for. However, if 6 non specific day D2Ds arrive in a week they are to be delivered at a rate of 16.66% per day, so 100% call rate will not apply.

The workload is calculated over 6 days and will be at 16.5% per day and you will NOT get a 100% call rate on a daily basis - the calculation has already been done and each walk will have a call rate applied and that call rate will be subject to something between 3% and 8% depending on what the original call rate is calculated at.

We have much to learn Luke Skywalker.

You cant change a duty span midway through a week just cos the mail got lighter or heavier, its either 100% or just dont bother, cos the duties on the days when it is 100% wont be achievable. Then what happens??

Planners in my D.O will be the gaffer, someone who knows Goe-route/Pegasus, and a mix of 5 or 6 FT/PTers.

I know I'll be one of them as the gaffer has already spoken to me about doing it.

No chance the duties are going to be unachievable, none of us would allow it.

If by chance one or 2 are unachievable, then its back to the drawing board to tweak what we got.

Thats all a long way off, lets get the ballot over with first and see where we are.

There is going to be flexibility without a set delivery span with spare time from loss of indoor work - something is going to have to take its place.

Why are we all convinced that we will get up to 6 D2D's per week,as i understand it the cap has been removed, so there is no limit.
Also is there a regulation on the size of the items? if not how the hell are our frames going to accomadate such a large amount of D2D items?
Surely walks will have to go to 100% call rate, as we will not be able to prep unlimited amounts at 25% a day.

Like 1 manager will have time to sort out who has time to do what on a day to day basis.

Duties have to be set to a certain time frame, whether some in the office are 3.5, some 4, some 4.5 and some 5. They still have to have a set time frame.

Not, well its light so you might be to take another row of a frame if time allows. Time wont allow, it will be set in stone. Every little thing will be set in stone, otherwise it just wont work.

I thought the CWU said traffic figures will be continuously monitored and applied to deliveries on a daily basis? The agreement actually states that delivery spans are not set in stone, they are merely an enabler.

RML are not going to achive a far bigger share of the market overnight, that will take time.

I would like to see RML give a breakdown of contarcts turned down so we can see the number of extra sets of leaflets we would have delivered each week.

RML belive they can double from 3 to 6 over the next 3 years, they have to tread cautiously otherwise they risk taking on work loads that the buissness is not set up for. Think of the additional time needed as DTD grows and RML need to lower prices to get the bigger share of the market that dosent leave much room for profit.

Eventually RML will do what their fellow postal operators do and automate the prep, so we are only putting in effect one item in the frame. I expect that willbe the next big nationwide automation/modernisation project once sequnced mail is complete.
