How many branches are there in total?

Leeds had their AGM last Sunday and have not heard which way they are going. Most of the remaining Branch`s are supporting the agreement with Newcastle Amal not making a recommendation.

Interesting I have not heard what my Branch Recommendation is - in fact I heard unofficially they were not going to make a recommendation either way. Any ideas what Bradford AMAL is recommending.

There are 91 postal Branch`s in the union. I heard Bradford were supporting the agreement as Bob Gibson attended their AGM.

So in fairness I think I know only seven Branch`s who are not supporting the agreement. The totla number of members are 130860. The members in the Branch`s opposing the agreement total 15 086. Of course that does not mean members will follow their Branch recomendations whether they support the agreement or otherwise.

We will know soon enough.

I was thinking about this deal walking around my beat today.

What struck me is how annoyed i am with the CWU in the way they have said accept this deal theres nothink else on the table.

Ok the final decision is with us the members whether we vote YE/NO but i feel the union has acted no better than R/M have treated us over the past.

They have chosen not to listen to its members and stood in front us telling us to accept it. As a responsible union acting in the best interests of it members they had a duty to listen to us ,they also had a duty to have a plan B .How ill prepared for battle they were. Why is this deal solely in favour towards R/M should it not have been in our favour.

Hopefully this deal will be rejected by the members the CWU will then have to listen to us go back to the table and sort out our issues.

Rant over once i receive my paper its going to be a big X in the NO box.

That's a simple one . As soon as someone tells me I have to do what they say or else ,I tend to say f**k off Just one reason for NO

How many branches are there in total?

There's about 90 postal branches, as I remember. Some have 3 or 4 thousand members, Like North Lancs and Cumbria, or Bristol. Others don't, like Gwent.

Bradford has not made any decision formally, though some officials are doing their level best to do HQ's bidding.

Bob Gibson did attend a meeting in Bradford, and reportedly talked at the 50 or so people there for about 2 hours.

I'm not sure that he convinced many.

There are around 1600 members, and 800 of these are on delivery. Most of those who have voiced an opinion that I have heard are not happy.

I hear the Group are refusing to allow any pay talks to take place with POl or Parcelforce because they are worried the agreement is going down.

Dear Colleague

POL – PAY NEGOTIATIONS: 1ST APRIL 2010

I wish to advise branches and members that formal pay negotiations will commence with POL this Wednesday and Thursday, 28th and 29th April 2010. These pay negotiations will encompass all CWU members working in POL, including CViT / Cash Centre workers (in Supply Chain) together with members from Crowns and Admin.

The CWU negotiating team will be led by myself, supported by Carl Maden and Ian Ward, Postal Executive members. Additional support will be provided by Andrew Towers, Research and the C&CH Department staff.

The delay in commencing these negotiations is unfortunate and is a consequence of Royal Mail Group centre insisting that POL could not enter into pay bargaining until the ballot for the CWU/Royal Mail Agreement: Business Transformation 2010 and Beyond had closed. Now that negotiations are due to commence, hopefully, we will be able to make progress quickly.

Please ensure that this LTB is brought to the urgent attention of all members working within POL.
