The agreement provides strong words over door to door into workload including THIS MOVE INTO WORKLOAD WILL REQUIRE DELIVERY DUTIES TO BE ADJUSTED AND ALLOWANCES TO BE MADE IN ORDER TO PROVIDE SUFFICENT TIME TO PREP THE ITEMS AND DELIVER THEM.

Now in regards to the issue about part timer workers and the pro rata issue well the new supplement is not for delivering door to door in the future or for having early starts it is a permanent supplement to basic pay. So it has to then be paid pro rata or otherwise you will get someone who is on a one hour contact getting the same as someone on a 40 hour contract.

However for example if everyone want part timers to get the full rate then the £20.60 would reduced to £18 for all staff as there is no new money in the product. Now we have part timers with a mixture of hours ranging from one hour contacts to Saturday only contract to 20 hours , to 30 hours and even 35 hour part timers do you give them the money equally or do you give someone on 35 hours more than someone who has a 1 hour contract or works 6 hours on a Saturday ?

Now the other red herring in this is say you paid everyone £18 including full timers then when the WSM revison is done then that part timer will get an extra increase linked to the shorter working week so in Big Dazs point a 30 hour contract will recieve an £6.60 pay rise so do you think the full timer might compain that his money has come down from £20.60 to £18 to give part timers the same rate but all of a sudden the part timers has an extra pay rise of £6.60 due to the shorter working week for full timers and the hourly rate going up for part timers.

unbelievable how some people think the d2d oops sorry "supplement" is fair on p/t staff  , does anyone think that just by changing the name it`s ok, why should i as a part timer subsidise full time staff by spreading my d2d money around and why should f/t union reps who dont do deliveries get £20.60?

I raised this point before and I have yet to have an answer.
Why does everyone who supports the agreement say the same thing about the delivery supplement. ie. that full timers would complain because part timers will get a pay rise of £5/6 due to the shorter working week.
Is the shorter working week included in the delivery supplement?
Is the shorter working week a separate issue from the delivery supplement and d2d's?
Does this payrise for part timers not keep their hourly rate the same as full timers. Full timers will work 39 hours instead of 40 for no loss of pay, therefore their hourly rate is increased by 2.5% (1/40th=2.5%) Part timers pay is supposed to increase by 2%? to bring their hourly rate into line with full timers.
So why would a full timer be annoyed that a part timer gets paid the same rate of pay?
This is just smoke and mirrors, I have read this point of view on this forum quite a few times and even had the same thing worded almost exactly the same sent to me by my CWU branch, so I would like you to answer the following question.
Is the rise in the part time rate of pay linked directly to the delivery supplement?
If it is, why is it not pensionable?
If it isn't, why are the union distorting this fact and trying to turn full timers against part timers?

Once the 39 hour week is introduced at your D.O FT Pay is divded by 39 hours rather than 40 to give the new hourly rate, which is obvisouly higher.

39 hour week is introduced when sequenced mail starts at your D.O

not according to dingo daz, he says p/t staff will be on a higher rate than f/t staff and by the way in some offices the reps are peddling this lie too, and i have just recieved the dvd today, one question is why do we need a dvd for this vote? another question is who is paying for the dvd?

No what I meant to say is thaat the current pay rate is £347.61 divdied by 40 hours means and hourly rate of £8.69

From April that will increase by 2% which is then increase to £354.56 divdied again by 40 means an hourly rate of £8.86

However if you then have walk sequencing in year 1 then the shorter working week comes in meaning that it is £354.56 divided by 39 hours which means the hourly rate is now £9.09 which is applied to all staff icluding part timers so part times will get an increase of the difference between £9.09 and £8.86 which is 23 pence per hour so

if someone is employed on a 1 hour contract they will get an addtional increase of 23 pence per week

if someone is on 10 hours then they will get an increase of £2.30 per week

If someone is on 20 hours then they will get an increase of £4.60

if someone is on 30 hours then they will get an increase of £6.90

If someone is on 35 hours then they will get an increase of £ 8.05

This is over an above the pay rise and is in order to keep everyone on the same hourly rate.

Of course if you get walk sequencing in year 2 then you will have a slightly bigger increase as the 1.4 comes into play.

Remember only part timers get this increase as full timers get to work only 39 hours to work.

I have never saw so much spin ,all to say P/T staff will be on the same HOURLY rate as F/T staff.
And NO part-timers are not the only ones to get an increase full timers get it to in the shape of an hour less work for the same pay..or the equivelent of £8.86 so even that is pro-rata. :cuppa

Sounds like some reps are confused or are not being clear enough in their explanations.

Sequenced mail is due October 2011 at my D.O so when that happens the 39 hour week come sinto play with no loss of pay.

This means the hourly rate works out higher due to basic divide 39 hours rather than basic divide 40 hours

As the hourly rate is now higher my basic pay as a 30 hour PT goes up, as everyone is paid the same hourly rate.

PT will get the new hourly rate X however many hours they are contracted to work and for FT it is the new hourly rate X 39 hours.

I can be blamed for many things but it's not down to me as there are none in London . I think this issue needs to be sorted at the first revision

This may sound crazy given the views about the deal expressed on ths site about the finances, but CWU dont do SWW with loss of pay. I suspect the PEC would have not had majority support for the deal and sent Dave back to RML. I suspect yes branches would be a no if that happened and DAbve does like to point out that other unions dont keep pay at the same level when getting a SWW.
