If not go for the 9 day fortnights
Get your Rep to look into self-financing
It does not have to be a local budget scenario (if i am reading other threads correctly)
Get in there .. Mon -Fri- casuals&others, poss o/t for those that want it
Cant wait to see the rest of the 9![]()
anyway casual RM drivers
is no pot of cash to finance these, savings/absorbtion from within your office are the way
it will work- SIMPLES

Re: One in four Saturdays off ?
Lovejoy suggested that he had spoken to 20 hour part timers who would love to work Friday and Saturday as 10 hours days - funny that because we have loads of 20 hour part timers and yet not a single one thought that was a good idea - they thought 2 10 hour days was good - though they hadn't actually thought about how long the delivery span would be - when suggested that it would probably be 6 hours ish, they weren't at all enthusiastic.
Though I must admit there are scenarios in our particular office that could combine collections and deliveries, though I wouldn't suggest it.

If you've got people who want more Saturdays off and people who wouldn't mind doing delivey and collections, then I don't really see a problem, plus I think this what a lot of us FTers will have to do any way.dvbuk55 wrote: Though I must admit there are scenarios in our particular office that could combine collections and deliveries, though I wouldn't suggest it.
We do 6 week rotates so we've got to put some thought on how to get the 1 in 4 off, our DOM did suggest that you take annual leave in to the calculation, which I assured him wasn't how I read the agreement.
I personally think if we can't get people from within the office to do Sats, then I think we should look at 6 and 8 hour contracts, just for Saturdays, I know this will sound sexist, but I know a few women who would like to do just 1 days work, just for the change of something differnt.

Cant see many at our office wanting to increase their number of SAT attendances now, never mind when their finishing at 3PM, no problemtrythat wrote:If you've got people who want more Saturdays off and people who wouldn't mind doing delivey and collections, then I don't really see a problem, plus I think this what a lot of us FTers will have to do any way.dvbuk55 wrote: Though I must admit there are scenarios in our particular office that could combine collections and deliveries, though I wouldn't suggest it.

with the 6/8 hr contracts, however these will need to be self funded, their will be no extra funding for these otherwise their would not be an issue
for any unit getting a 1 in 4 off

I can see your point tt but as I understand it, it must be self financing and an influx of staff wouldn't do that.trythat wrote:If you've got people who want more Saturdays off and people who wouldn't mind doing delivey and collections, then I don't really see a problem, plus I think this what a lot of us FTers will have to do any way.dvbuk55 wrote: Though I must admit there are scenarios in our particular office that could combine collections and deliveries, though I wouldn't suggest it.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: One in four Saturdays off ?
we were told that annual leave would cover the 1in4 sats off and the remaining lads would have to cover a walk between 6 if we wanted any more sats off...in there own time
this deal is crap and its just like 2007 each dom will have there own ideas on it and the weaker offices will suffer...it needs to be in black and white in the agreement before we vote on it but thats too late now
its a non starter

If DV is saying it because he 'thinks' it then he's out of order.

I dont believe he is out of order, just being realistic, if you do a 10hr day, what does your duty consist of?POSTMAN wrote:I don't do 6hr delivery and i'm on a 4 day week.No 4 dayers do 6 hrs out side!Steviea34 wrote:POSTMAN wrote:Why would you suggest 6hr ish!!! Re: One in four Saturdays off ?
What is the structure for a 10 hour day POSTMAN.
Or anybody that does them, what is the indoor outdoor split or in other words what is the delivery span.

There is no doubt POSTMAN when a walk sequenced revision hits town some offices will struggle to fill the indoor workload.POSTMAN wrote:

The only option open to them if they are to protect the full-time jobs they have is to go long with the delivery.....6hrs probably not.... 5hrs different story.

Re: One in four Saturdays off ?
Why on earth would I want three absolutely long, totally crap Saturdays, just so I can have a measly one off a month?
Make it one crap Saturday, and three good ones away from the RM concentration camp, then I'll think about it.
