Re: Good new Delivery Structures for 2010 & Beyond
In my area dingo (or anybody who wants to answer) SA has never been paid for people working days off even though it is common place and absolutely has to be done to keep offices running, without resorting to the old we are strong you are weak bravado will this new agreement really make it likely for all areas to get SA for working days off.
Or in other words is it set in stone that this will be the case in agreement.
Can we have 1 office getting SA for working days off and another in same branch not, or would Area and Div reps not allow this to happen.

The agreement allows for it and it is widely used in London and SA is far more reliable then normal overtime. Bearing in mind that working a rest day on sa produces a saving for Royal Mail as it they save on the extra cost of a rest day cover ie pension costs , annual leave costs , national inusrance costs , uniform costs etc.gb93 wrote:In my area dingo (or anybody who wants to answer) SA has never been paid for people working days off even though it is common place and absolutely has to be done to keep offices running, without resorting to the old we are strong you are weak bravado will this new agreement really make it likely for all areas to get SA for working days off.

but those wise enough know no mater how much paint is thrown on this deal it's certainly going to cause the biggest problems the cwu have ever had from a growing by the day dissenchated membership
come in hayes and ward your times up !!!!!

The sooner they get rid of normal overtime, the better. Some members will "cut each others throats" for an hour...it is ridiculous! This ad-hoc overtime is what really splits the offices. Not to mention the favouritism it produces. The agreement does mention less pressure overtime and more SA. Got to be honest with you,the line managers have these peoples phone numbers and their mobiles are red hot once a duty is ,(or absorptions) are not covered.

Re: Good new Delivery Structures for 2010 & Beyond
i wonder if people who like lots of overtime, or even people who just like a little, will be as keen to do it under the new agreement, ie, you split a 3.5, 4 or 5 hour delivery, bearing in mind that you could be taking out 7 or 8 lots of d2d on the delivery thats on overtime, after you,ve just done your own. you could be out till 7.30, 8.00 at night. dont think there will be many takers!!drb wrote:The sooner they get rid of normal overtime, the better. I think the proviso for getting SA when working your days off is that you have to do it every time. So if you day off is always a Thursday and you elect for this system then you will have to either work every Thursday (or day off) or get cover.
If however you work the odd day off because they can't get cover then its normal rates for docket.

Re: Good new Delivery Structures for 2010 & Beyond
I am a simple soul, so to get these wonderfull 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 Sats off do I have to work 10 hours days ?, or is there an arrangement that works for what I prefer a standard 8 hour day, also on the Saturdays that I will be required to work, are they 10 hours days as well ?. Sorry to appear so thick, but to be honest I've lost the will to try and understand it all. Think I'll just stay and see if I like the new ways and if not jump ship.

All of course if Royal Mail agree to it by next week, which is of course a week after the ballot begins. What happened to the nothing is agreed until everything is agreed? And if Royal Mail don't agree - will there b a Plan B, or do we just go ahead anyway. Will there be any financial restrictions on these new and innovative duties - for example do they have to be self financing, will more staff be recruited to suit the new and innovative duty structures, will EVR be available for surplus delivery office staff to incorporate these new and innovative duty structures - will there be any reflexiation included.dingo wrote:Well under this agreement you delivery office could be the same. There will be no plan b apparently, the whole point of this agreement will be to save hours, innovative duty structures along with 1 in 4dvbuk55 wrote:All of course if Royal Mail agree to it by next week, which is of course a week after the ballot begins. sats will no doubt have to be self financing, no sudden increase in F/T posts, our office is already at 50/50, only way that will change
is if say 2*30 hr contracts go to be replaced by 1 f/t. We already operate at over 100BSI indoors, outdoor town spans over 4 hrs,
rurals at 5+, been told no hours going in, only looking to take out, i cannot envisage anywhere extra hours going in despite the
false prophets saying so

You may be right there Stevie - the OED says - Sorry the word "reflexiation" is not in the dictionary - so when you are at your lowest ebb bang - you'll be hit with the meaning and you probably won't like itSteviea34 wrote:Sound very interesting in a kinky type waydvbuk55 wrote:But what about reflexiation stevie - will that be evident?Steviea34 wrote:There will be no plan b apparently, the whole point of this agreement will be to save hours, innovative duty structures along with 1 in 4dvbuk55 wrote:All of course if Royal Mail agree to it by next week, which is of course a week after the ballot begins.
