Re: 2010 and Beyond - Delivery Revisions UPDATE
Get off your high mount hooty - these are just letters, they say absolutely nothing in essence. These are not part of the agreement.
Have you seen the revision tools, the synopsis of the proposed workshops, the duty matrices for fewer Saturdays all promised - and what have we had on the very day before the ballot commences - actually nothing.
It doesn't take long does it?

Re: 2010 and Beyond - Delivery Revisions UPDATE
My worry is Hooty if the duties produced by this office revision are......significantly more costly than those at present will RM not simply try to claw back as much of this overspend as possible after said "non-budget driven" revision.HootyMacBoob wrote:No offence taken FT, in all my years in RM I can’t remember ever being crushed by RM, Consignia or the GPO in fact I believe the strength of the union has always prevailed and will in the future.
Ever year RM have a business savings plan, the local rep is involved to make their local office more efficient and productive it is always driven by RM's budget. This is the first time were an office revision will not be driven by a set % of savings.
After all the business is allegedly finacially crippled is it not?

It scares me people maybe under the impression hours
are likely to be put back into an office, this deal is
designed to release savings, not increase costs.
I would be interested to know if any rep on here is
selling the deal on this basis or wether they think
hours will be going into their office, more F/T jobs
more SAT offs, realistic performance measures
(undefined) how could I resist?

Re: 2010 and Beyond - Delivery Revisions UPDATE
I would need a ladder to get on anything with the word high in front of it dvbuk,I would think that signed letters would be as binding as an agreement when used to clarify a specific point raised by one of the main signatures to a national agreement. I have had training on Pegasus and seen some of the results it threw out 2 years ago when they were using it to enforce EA. Georoute in the main was out by 30 - 50 minutes in most deliveries this was due to the high walking speeds and incorrect call rates, I have seen recent georoute results with the slower walking speeds and different attendance call rates and they are within 10 minutes each way. There are offices up and down the UK who do fewer Saturdays already.dvbuk55 wrote:Get off your high mount hooty - these are just letters, they say absolutely nothing in essence. I agree with your points on pay n mod 2007 stevie thats why scot no 2 recomended to reject that agreement.Steviea34 wrote:Sorry To dissapoint Hooty , but I have commented on
this thread, please feel free to reply after you have
read it. I know how this business operates, and again
too much faith in 'local agreements' for my liking
this is why 2007 was such a cock up & open to
interpretation on both sides, or is it a case of let's
get the deal accepted & let the little people
sort the problems out later

I would guess that in all offices were RM took EA that they are getting no savings whatsoever and in some offices they will be overspending,I think RM understand that to be efficiant and make savings they have to have the will of its people to achieve it.fishtank wrote:My worry is Hooty if the duties produced by this office revision are......significantly more costly than those at present will RM not simply try to claw back as much of this overspend as possible after said "non-budget driven" revision.HootyMacBoob wrote:No offence taken FT, in all my years in RM I can’t remember ever being crushed by RM, Consignia or the GPO in fact I believe the strength of the union has always prevailed and will in the future.

That really was the nub of the post hooty - and really offices up and down the country doesn't actually count - it isn't 1 in 4 or 3 or less across the whole country as the agreement implies. If the content of the letters was in the agreement what would be the need to clarify it before the ballot - the words of the agreement will be the agreement won't it? If we need to clarify things BEFORE the ballot has been counted we are in deep trouble.

dingo wrote:The menu of options have been sent to Royal Mail and should be agreed next week. The menu of option allow for the wallington system , wallington plus system , the 4 day week , the 9 day fortnight which has two options 6 plus 3 and 5 plus 4 , a cdv 2 people sharing with a part time which offers 1 in every two saturdays off with a 4 and 1/2 day structure , 2 in saturdays off in 5 day rotating system , a 2 in 6 1 in 3 saturdays off system .
These options will be available to all staff including reseves ( exceptions are saturday only part timers ).
Now some of you need to think outside the box , too many didt move to a five day week option before SDD as it meant that offices had to give up extra duties to fund the rest day covers , the same will apply to these options but the advatages of the 4 day week system which means you have friday saturday, monday and tuesday off every 3 weeks is some much better , equally the 9 day fornight option of 6 plus 3 means that you have once every four weeks thursday , friday , Saturday , Monday , Tuesday and Wednesday off on the bounce.
Plus if your an office who wants to increase earnings then there is on page 69 of the agreement a heading additional local earnings opportunities which provide a platform for enusuring that earnings will be a key consideration of the revison. Lots of office on a 4 day week or 9 day fortnight survey the staff and allow for one or in some case two rest days to be worked. So in a 4 day week option someone can work 10 hours sa per week for doing his own walk on his/ her day off and clearly would make up any shortfall on any door to door monies they may have lost. Equally on a 9 day fortnight the hourage for working sa would be 8.45 which is quite attractive. Part timers can also work their rest days.
So attendances are a key part of this deal and reps and members need to take advantage of these patterns.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

What happens in a small DO with no local Rep?This will be confirmed at the front of the new revisions process in the local workshop for DOMs and local representatives. The plan for rolling out the fresh approach to revisions is being discussed by our teams and will be confirmed soon.

I would absolutely agree with that statement and I would have thought that was our position of strength on which to negotiate UNLESS there was another agenda.HootyMacBoob wrote:I would guess that in all offices were RM took EA that they are getting no savings whatsoever and in some offices they will be overspending,I think RM understand that to be efficiant and make savings they have to have the will of its people to achieve it.fishtank wrote:My worry is Hooty if the duties produced by this office revision are......significantly more costly than those at present will RM not simply try to claw back as much of this overspend as possible after said "non-budget driven" revision.HootyMacBoob wrote:No offence taken FT, in all my years in RM I can’t remember ever being crushed by RM, Consignia or the GPO in fact I believe the strength of the union has always prevailed and will in the future.
