I have a knee problem and I slipped whilst at work during the snowy period that has aggravated it so I have been off sick for 2 weeks because of a problem with my knee - I am limping and am currently having physio for it so I can't do my normal rounds. I've just been put on stage 1 but I have a feeling the problem isn't going to go away that easily and my boss is already saying that he's struggling to cope witht the workload with me being on 'light' duties. I have Doctor's notes for the whole 2 weeks - what could happen if I have to go off again? Surely it would be unfair dismissal if I have medical notes/physio appointments/orthopaedic surgeon appointments and so on??

That would depend on how many more times you have to go on sick. But you still get the stages, regardless of medical evidence.

Superdog101: If you slipped at work and hurt your knee then you should register an accident at work (put it in the accident book), get a LS3 form from your rep, contact IIDB centre nearest you and get it registered as a accident at work. If you were placed upon a stage 1 because of your accident you need to take out a grievance against your line manager. In your stage 1 notes he/she must of put their rationale for disregarding your accident if not then they have only used amount of days which is against the Attendance Procedure (accident at work). You should state that no account of the accident was taken by your line manager. Progress this through the grievance stages.
