Leeds cat in attack on postmen

If he were human he'd be expecting a telegram from the Queen soon, but Tiger has been giving his local postmen the run around.
The 19-year-old black and white cat has terrorised the posties that deliver to his owner's home to the point that Royal Mail are now refusing to deliver any more post.

Tiger, who spends most of his day cat napping, has attacked three postmen in the past few weeks.

Tracy Brayshaw, from Farsley, Leeds, said that postmen have complained that Tiger stalks his cat flap waiting for them to deliver letters before getting ready to pounce and chase them down the garden path.

Now Mrs Brayshaw has to go to her local sorting office in Pudsey for her post because her cat is deemed a health and safety risk.

She said: "If Tiger climbs up a tree he is done in for the rest of the week. I find it really hard to believe.

"The post has been suspended for two weeks now. It was funny at first but it is going a bit far now."

Mrs Brayshaw said that when she went to collect her last batch of mail at the sorting office her son Sam, 16, almost missed out on an invitation from Pudsey Grangefield School to go in for the day during the half term break.

Her daughter Amy, who will be 18 in two weeks, is desperately waiting for her university place confirmation letter to arrive through the door.

Now Mrs Brayshaw is hoping to appeal against the decision to suspend her post.

She said: "Tiger is 19 years old.He dribbles when he sleeps and snores – he sleeps for 20 hours a day.

"Royal Mail said that they will not come near the house because the cat is far too dangerous. They said it was a health and safety issue. He is not a Rottweiler.

"His name actually suits him. This is the first time that I have heard about something like this from a cat."

A spokeswoman from Royal Mail said: "We are sorry for the inconvenience to Mrs Brayshaw and, as we want to resume delivery of mail to her address as quickly as possible. We're trying to agree a way to do this and avoid our employees suffering further nasty injuries, as has happened three times already."
