I like the post about most of us voting no because we follow like sheep. Isn,t that what the union is doing by sending out flyers that paint everything as rosy and hoping that the bulk of posties who have litle interest in reading and digesting the agreement properly, will put their x in the yes box because the flyer is easier to read.

How about 20 or 30 then is it still a good deal or are you just saying it to make it sound ok!.Big Daz wrote:I deliver pizza leaflets nearly every week. Has anyone else noticed that RM might not have a big market share of D2Ds, but just like DSA, the likes of TNT are now sending their D2D contracts for us to do.

As to your comment yes they think we are sheep but at the end of the day they will be the one's shorn the most for if this agreement is voted in it will end the CWU they must have promised them all jobs but alas never trust management as the saying goes!Lincox wrote:I like the post about most of us voting no because we follow like sheep. The workplan change will drive the span you have. No one in the country has yet had a walk sequencing revision introduced to the new workplan which includes the changes to the mail centre and of course mean that the machines run on both Sunday into Monday and Friday into saturday night.dazzlin72 wrote:Has anyone else noticed that RM might not have a big market share of D2Ds, but just like DSA, the likes of TNT are now sending their D2D contracts for us to do.
At the risk of repeating myself the plan willl mean that approximately 60% of work for all walks will clear a mail centre approximately 11 ish and then can be sequenced during the night and can be ready for your office in the morning.
However 40% which is processed during the night in mail centres will no longer come into your office in the morning to be IPS. Instead this work will be sequenced and each batch of work (approximately 12 walks ) will need 3 passes. The earliest this work can arrive in an office is about 07 30 the latest is 10 in the morning.
Once this second batch is in your office then this will have to prepped into your frame , you will still have to do redirections ,dead etc .
So if your work arrives into your office at 10 in the morning you will not be getting out till after 11 and still have to travel to and from the delivery so delivery spans will not need to be longer if you dont want them to be. Equally if you recieve your second batch before 0900 you will still not be onto long a span .
Look as long as people realise that the days when people chase time and cut every corner to get some time has come to an end then why would you be worried. I have seen loads of people over the years who work at over 100BSi in order to finish early. Well its not going to happen in the future as Royal Mail will keep cutting jobs , keep introducing absorbing etc if you still chase time.
Our officers are meeting on standards etc the week after next and hopefully will move those issues on. Equally we have got the guidelines sorted on car derived vans. Is it not funny that some people oppose CDVs when the reality is that it removes postmen./women loading up their cars with mail bags , carrying bags on the shoulders and rushing around.
Its time to get real , the changes Royal Mail are introducing with or without an agreement are coming, the only question is do you want an agreement which provides safeguards and benefits or do you want nothing and just Royal Mail"s imposition.

Re: Myths about the agreement
Unhappily, it does affect me (reread the previous post) for those reasons already stated, plus the CWU (possibly) calling another strike costing me yet more money for little (or no) return, over changes I don't have any problem with.No thanks tman - I'll save that for people who understand it and are affected by it..
Still, a "yes" vote sounds a distinct possibility anyway...

Re: Myths about the agreement
The clear and simple fact is any manager and his DOM will look for savings and the easiest way is to bend the figures before entering them into the said computer this is not rocket science just greed!. As to imposition is that not why we went on strike for?.dingo wrote:The workplan change will drive the span you have. Re: Myths about the agreement
I am fed up reading that the average postie has 400 drops(re d2d) There are loads of us between 6 and 800 . More than likely the ones who wanted most out of industrial action and those people will not just go away. I kind of agree that there is no alternative to this crap deal as it at least puts the cwu at the centre of change while it happens but its the completly underhand way that this deal is being sold, right from the initial media announcment to the bulletins and propaganda that is going to make me vote no so they were aware that there were many unhappy when this deal goes through. I dont care what the average is. I already know when i visit other towns they finish earlier but try having 800 drops and then bulk posting arriving and now d2d which my dom admits those above wont give him the hours to put in workload. Many in our office come back and prep d2d after delivery as we,re paid well for them.
I feel so sorry for the office reps. Not the area ones that are paid and those at the top that have secured their future. but the ones like we have that give up their own time and who the cwu at top is now handing this mess to. I really think the union as we knew it is finished . Ive had to argue a point with an area rep before who sounded like a manager and i think this will happen more in the future.

Spot on! The problem is that if workload is worked out at 75 BSI, the standard, the same old crew will run around etc.. to get done early. What will stop these people? In other industries, there is always more work to do, so there is no point rushing and cutting corners. In our industry, our workload is generally fixed on any particular day. The work that a manager could find you runs out. Maybe banking hours would be the only way to stop people working in this manner?
