Given the lack of availability of RM footwear I thought that rather than share a van, we could share a pair of shoes with a colleague first to see how that goes.

Maybe you could ask your manager if you could step into his shoes for they must not be as worn as yours?. :hmmmm

I think they're worn down by all that trampling on people in the race to climb the greasy pole of managerial ambition.

After talking to a Planning Team Mananager(dont laugh) I now Know the answer to my origanal question.
Its so simple cant beleive I did not realise it myself, obviously wht this person is a Planning Manager.

Basicaly,If your new walk is 4 hrs Geo Route, with a CDV you should have enough time
A ,To do D2D to every house as this hardly takes any longer!
B,As using a van you will have enough time to deliver all oversize and tracked as well!

I am sure you can tell the Planning Manager has never done a walk in their life !

Bring it on I say!--Royal Fail

We have both walk sequenced mail and the 2 posties per van in our office already and I'll tell you how it works. Large packets don't have to be delivered every day lol. They are done mostly on a Monday and Tuesday when it's not as busy. Sometimes when large packets have failed the day before the driver from will be sent out to do them during the primary. As for walk sequenced mail the mail centre can't give us the whole offices mail in one load, so people who haven't got it are up the primary at 6 then taken off to sort it when it finally arrives. Also I would say its saving us around 10 minutes (good investment RM). So yeah it's the customer who suffers as usual from a sub-standard packet delivery service.

Bet they aren't telling Amazon and other businesses that :)

Thats how it might work now, but with the new agreement it could mean, and probably will, that most of the large packets and parcels will have to be delivered on a saturday( because more customers will be in), as requested by amazon or whoever, as well as d2d being requested to be delivered on a saturday for the same reason.
I married my wife for her looks, but not the one she gave me when i said i was going to be a postman.

What makes me laugh is how the DOM is under the impression that the new machines are going to save the day and that everything is going to fall into place just because of them,i sometimes wonder what planet he's on,we don't even have enough staff or time with the walk's as they are,we already don't do packets when it gets bad which is most days,so how they think these machines are going to be the answer to their prayers i really don't know, answers on a post card please!
