Still not exactly being carried by a delivery postman is it?[/quoteclashcityrocker wrote:fishtank wrote: It's not work for the drivers it's work for park&loop and HCT.![]()
This is exactly the kind of contract the move to the new delivery methods was designed for.
Of course its work for delivery postmen!
When an office implements park and loop/CDVs, call it what you will, you cannot differenciate between walking dutys and driving dutys. They all become deliveries.Full stop.
You cannot refuse to take an oversize packet;why....because you have a van.
You cannot refuse to take a SD at the back end of your walk;why....because you have a van and you can break of to do it.
You cannot refuse to take any bulk deliveries;why....because you have a van.
So if anything needs delivering, within the parameters of your TWO dutys, then you take it.Plus you get to do any collections that fall in your duty time;why....because you have a van.
Oh,and you get to drop off bags if need be;why ....because you have a van.
This is myself and my mates daily workload.
We did not choose these dutys; they were both individual walks that had park and loop implemented.
Now you tell me if i am a delivery postman or a driver.
f****d if i know

Who said RM lost money on DSA?
What company would chase after new contracts if they did not make money,or were part of a larger money making Contract.
The Hooper report said it was unclear wether RM made or lost money on DSA.
Since RM are chasing DSA contracts they must be making money on them.

Your managers are idiots, the new settings going into pegasus will play a big part in determing how may duties you end up with. It will vary across the country due to so many different workrates applied to pegasus across the country, which are replaced with one new set of workrates in the computer program that is pegasus/geo route. So unless planners are going to startover riding (if they no how to) the national settings they may get a shock. If they do adjust the settings downwards to get savings, then I would want to see them CC for gross misconduct.

Some they do, some they dont
I belive the loss making DSA are the letters that once came under the monopoly.
In theroy RM would have got what they belive is a fair price and a price that is enough to cover their expenses and make a profit on. I would like to se the prices UK mail are charging the customer and how much of that covers costs and how much profit both UK mail and RML

Re: delivering packets up to 5kg for UK MAIL
It’s probably a totally implausible situation but I would love to see a situation whereby our DO was flooded by hundreds upon hundreds of 5kgs items, a bit like the way we were hit with lightbulbs.
What I’d like to see is how our management team would cope. Total meltdown, I should imagine.
Posties in uproar, van drivers and cyclists at loggerheads (no CDV’s in our office yet), furious arguments. Given that after your 4th pouch you are only allowed to load pouches to a maximum weight of 8kgs, then you’d only get one 5kg packet in a pouch. The cry would go up for “more pouches!” There wouldn’t be enough pouches in the office, or space in the secure boxes to leave them all, let alone hours in the day to schlep back and forward to the bag drop points to collect yet another bag.
F**king hilarious!!! Bring it on, I can’t wait.

Yes, after the staff cuts last summer it was like that for the recent Christmas pressure.Straight4ward wrote:It’s probably a totally implausible situation but I would love to see a situation whereby our DO was flooded by hundreds upon hundreds of 5kgs items, a bit like the way we were hit with lightbulbs.

I think the only way this is all gonna work is, if you cant complete, you start where you left off on the next day. Sort of like a rolling duty...you catch up on the lighter days.
Failing that every postcode prefix has one delivery per week. Now theres an idea!

Yes it reminds me a little of the old union days, when the stewards called the workforce into the meeting, stood on the stage and explained the new deal:pickaname wrote:I think the only way this is all gonna work is, if you cant complete, you start where you left off on the next day. "Right lads, this is the best we can do, you get £200 a week, free canteen, non-contributory pension for final salary, an hour for lunch included in the 8 hour shift and you only work one day a week and that's Friday
and a voice from the shop floor shouts
What every bloody Friday?

Is this BEFORE the union used to sell out its members to secure its own existence?dvbuk55 wrote:Yes it reminds me a little of the old union days, when the stewards called the workforce into the meeting, stood on the stage and explained the new deal:pickaname wrote:I think the only way this is all gonna work is, if you cant complete, you start where you left off on the next day. Well it was in the days when the union was led from the bottom up and not the top down - that way you got the real issues sorted.pickaname wrote:Is this BEFORE the union used to sell out its members to secure its own existence?dvbuk55 wrote:Yes it reminds me a little of the old union days, when the stewards called the workforce into the meeting, stood on the stage and explained the new deal:pickaname wrote:I think the only way this is all gonna work is, if you cant complete, you start where you left off on the next day. Must be an absolute pittance if UKMail can't or don't want to actually physically deliver these items.kendo1 wrote:Who said RM lost money on DSA?

Re: delivering packets up to 5kg for UK MAIL
I'm already inundated with packets, two full sacks every day couple times a week extends to three, been taking citylink and co's for ages as part of DSA often knocking on 30+doors a day with 10mins added into geo route for my packets I'm already up to my time or over every day.
Great for any business to get more work and you can't knock them for getting it I guess, if only they actually set up the walks truly reflecting what is required then it would be a good news story. They don't so it will just be more added into the workload, wooohooooo
