Re: Lovejoy's ACAS promise
Lovejoy,
Peter Harwood forwarded my query to Peter Walls (Director Employee & Industrial Relations, Royal Mail) who replied on 29.03.10.
The two Peters have been respectful and not treated me differently because I was not a negotiator.

The question is when do we move beyond the initial stages, is that a national thing or a when every single location has moved beyond the initial stagesfishtank wrote:Even the agreement itself agrees.Dolphinboy wrote: I dont know who you are Lovejoy but it sounds like you are clutching at straws.
The ACAS reply seems very clear to me once the negotiations are done so are they.![]()
ini·tial (i nis̸h′əl)Given our intention to change the nature of the relationship between Royal Mail and CWU and build trust across the organisation the parties will continue to be supported through the initial stages of deployment by the independent facilitator, Roger Poole and Peter Harwood, Chief Conciliator of ACAS

Re: Lovejoy's ACAS promise
Minister you are completely missing the point that I am making. I know that Peter Harwood or RM will email you back. What I am saying is that they will give a standard reply which would be very different to a reply to say Mark Higson or Bob Gibson who were involved in the negotiations.MinisterofCucumber wrote:If anyone else has questions for ACAS please contact PHARWOOD@acas.org.uk
They know that people will email them looking for answers so all you wll get is a bland response. I know you are happy with your reply but it says nothing because ACAS will not give 'real' details to anyone outside of the negotiating teams.

Re: Lovejoy's ACAS promise
Lovejoy any chance that you could let us know exactly what powers of enforcement ACAS have , just in case either side abuses the trust of the other. What penalties are ACAS sanctioned to apply?

Lovejoy,
Do you really think that these people would contravene the Freedom of Information Act?
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Governmentc ... DG_4003239" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
They could sue you for insinuating that they give different answers to different inquirers.
ACAS said this to me:
"The wording of the agreement is the responsibility of the parties not Acas."
Lovejoy,
Do you agree that ACAS will not get involved in disputes concerning the wording of the agreement?

Re: Lovejoy's ACAS promise
Belial, I know you asked lovejoy and it's a bit naughty really because you, me and lovejoy know that they have absolutely no powers whatsoever to compel either side Royal Mail or the CWU to comply with any agreement, there are no penalties or sanctions if they fail to comply other than a gentlemans agreement. The one thing ACAS have of course is the governments ear - so RM go to ACAS and say such and such aren't doing such and such and the next thing you know there are questions in the house. The CWU go to ACAS and say RM are not carrying out an agreed practice and ACAS say - OK we'll write them a nasty letter but better do as they say in the meantime.BELIAL wrote:Lovejoy any chance that you could let us know exactly what powers of enforcement ACAS have , just in case either side abuses the trust of the other. Re: Lovejoy's ACAS promise
Let's all face it it is the government's fault NEW LABOUR but hang on all the other main parties are the same with the liberalisation of the EU postal market but only the dutch and Sweden and the UK have done so!. While all the big European parties and postal services protect their interests it just shows the ineptitude of our government in protecting us all from the worlds ills and free market forces which other smaller nations in the E/U do!.dvbuk55 wrote:Belial, I know you asked lovejoy and it's a bit naughty really because you, me and lovejoy know that they have absolutely no powers whatsoever to compel either side Royal Mail or the CWU to comply with any agreement, there are no penalties or sanctions if they fail to comply other than a gentlemans agreement. Re: Lovejoy's ACAS promise
As soon as I heard ACAS was involved I knew we were doomed!
Last time i had dealings with this bunch of charlatans they twisted anything that was said by both parties so an agreement was reached.
They have no powers - you might be better getting Paul Daniels to give advice. Couldn't be any worse!

Well actually he should be on the DVD presentation - the opening shot Debbie prancing on in that high thigh cut costume from stage right, Paul in a really loud jacket appearing from stage left - "Hello Folks - you're going to like this - not a lot" cuts to Dave Ward open necked shirt stood outside of his favourite boozer like one of the lads - "Look we've done our best awright, took 4 mumfs awright, sniff, nar there's winners and losers and on this occasion you're the losers awright vote yeah" Closing credits Higson and Ward shaking hands with the logo " A New Understanding "REDLETTER wrote:As soon as I heard ACAS was involved I knew we were doomed!
