Re: Horizon Support Advisors
It all seemed to be going so well until the Horizon OnLine screens froze again. All migrations stopped. Sent back to my branch to work for a few days. Gosh, it's worse than I remember! Even less staff than when I departed, government implementing 2009 budget car tax increases after 2010 budget(???), and the now traditional pre-bank holiday occurance of banking going off-line on 'old' Horizon. No doubt this year's pay rise will make it all worthwhile

Have some Workshops and spend some of the £180 million - that'll fix it.PostalOfficer wrote:It all seemed to be going so well until the Horizon OnLine screens froze again. All migrations stopped.

Re: Horizon Support Advisors
As most of you have gathered Horizon OnLine has been on hold while they do some tuning. Now some cheeky person has emailled me and said about going and doing a migration next week. That woke me up... hunt round and find my folder..
Seriously, they are doing quite a number of Crown offices at the end of next week. The lucky winners should get a memoview very soon.

Re: Horizon Support Advisors
I am going to find the adjustment very difficult and stressful and will have to stop Selling for at least six months.

Re: Horizon Support Advisors
Thank goodness they are not going live anywhere else just yet!
We are sick to death of Horizon Online in our office with all the freezes, crashes, etc. and I'm pretty damn sure our customers are even more fed up than us.
I can't help but make the point that this situation is just typical of The Post Office.
And they wonder why our staff are so cheesed off.
Thanks for the information Mr. Postal Officer and it's certainly a relief that we can carry on selling (NOT)!

Re: Horizon Support Advisors
There are many other offices who have gone Online and are constantly crashing... roll on the migration!!!PostalOfficer wrote:.....so you can carry on selling for the time being
Selling!!?? You'll be lucky to get served, period.
If it crashes you won't even see our lot on the counter! If we're to stay in branch It'll be feet up in the restroom reading the paper,
Front door shut
No customers in branch
We have made that quite clear to the managers.
If on the other hand, they don't require us to stay, It'll be 'back-payment' for all the agro we have had to endure the last couple of years.
This whole rollout has been a farce from the start. The software is buggy beyond belief, and the base units are running on the same old shitty pentium II processors that were installed during the original Horizon.
It's as effective as watching Avatar on a black and white portable, and as useful as an arsehole on my elbow.
And before anyone here tries to play the trump-card that YOU WILL STAY OPEN AND IN BRANCH, we turn up to work on the understanding that the company will at the very least, provide us with working tools for the job, if that barest minimum can't be met then it'll be TTFN on full pay. We've done it before, we'll do it again.
PS the next nearest crown is outside the nationally agreed reasonable traveling time

Re: Horizon Support Advisors
Good for you. There is far too much nonsense going on in this organisation at the moment, and we could do with a bit more backbone. Not the sort of blind acquiescence we are seeing from too many CWU representatives.billyhayes wrote: If it crashes you won't even see our lot on the counter! Re: Horizon Support Advisors
Been a while since I posted.
The 'great adventure' of travelling around training and installing the new software is over and it was back to the passport position yesterday
Today it was "We'll let you settle in for a week before we work on your conversations next week". In context it was well-meant, but my guts went into freefall
Around Christmas I had had 3 years of being taken of jobs I loved and did well, to be repeatedly "got at" for being rubbish at sales. Confidence at an all time low and no end in sight. Since our ABM gave me a push to look at this job, I've been getting up an hour early, looking forward to going to work with no headache. I've handled all sorts of situations in many different offices and my confidence is so much better. Far from having a manager standing behind me writing down what I'm saying I was sent 150 miles from base with no supervision!
Now I'm determined to have the attitude "Look, I handled XXX situation, alone, so you moaning about not selling a credit card just doesn't bother me anymore".
Several of my colleagues have expressed similar feelings. Another thing we all agree on is the amount of hard-working decent staff are out there keeping things running. They are bombarded with instructions, stupid customers, red tape, silly rules, asked to remit more cash than they have on hand etc., but they keep on going.
I can hear some of you saying "He's had a great time, but the system's rubbish". Well I can see plenty of faults and inconsistencies. But at least I was there to warn you about the trap before you fell into it
Thanks to those of you who made suggestions when I was thinking of applying...and if I came to your office, thanks for all the tea and coffee

Re: Horizon Support Advisors
I can imagine that your guts dropped and you bum went boo, when you was told that
Thing is, over the past few months you've been away, the bullshit has increased at a geometric rate. You will find that the demands on your position, (passport c&s), are ever more absurd. You better try damn hard to get a travel insurance and currency pre order with every one so help you!
In hindsight, a few may have been a bit envious that you had the chance to get away, but I for one am glad I've been around throughout 'cos the sudden change back will hit harder than Mike Tyson...
As for your colleagues realisation that they aren't taking crap anymore, good for them. There is dissent in the air my friend, and it is spreading quickly.
