Did they consult any Pensioners about the Website?
What's with the fine print on the Policies page? :confused http://www.thepensionersparty.org/policies.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Apart from that, though. It looks surprisingly good, for a Party I'd never heard of, before today.

Exactly. It's a shame really. Because they've obviously put a lot of thought into their policies. But it's pointless, if they present it on a site that many of their intended audience can't read. :d'oh!

At present you have 2 choices: Labour or Tory.

I beg to differ - even those 2 parties believe the chance of a minority government is the highest for a generation or more. If enough,or one, of the smaller parties got enough MPs voted in then they could have a huge influence on the policies of the next government be it Old Tory or New Tory. Liberal Democrats and the Greens :pray could become more influential in the future than they are now.

The only reason that Labour and Tories have dominated British Politics for so long, is because there are far too many Sheep. They fall for the same old rhetoric, that the "alternative" Parties can't possibly form a Government, so they don't vote for them. :hmmmm If they started thinking for themselves, and voting for whatever Party they believe will best represent them (which is the whole point of a Democratic Government!), then we'd finally have a Government which wasn't formed by Labour or Conservatives. :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh

There was a time, when I voted Labour, because I believed they would represent me. But that was before New Labour turned it's back on us, and betrayed the values on which they were formed. I haven't voted for them since that happened. :cry

I didn't just vote labour I was a member of the labour party and to my everlasting shame I believed Tony Blair was the saviour of the party, he had flair, rhetoric, charisma and most of all the common touch and was electable - he could and did win the labour party power - so where did it all go wrong?

Well unfortunately the aims of the government no longer reflected the aims of the grass roots labour members and in truth there seemed little difference between the Tories and them. Their agendas were poles apart and indeed have grown farther and farther apart over the years. Although still in touch with some people I am no longer a supporter or member.

Oddly enough there are similarities in the relationship between the CWU and the membership, for me the divide is too great for reconciliation on both counts.

dvbuk55: As we have discussed this before the only option you have is to re engage and change the party. The labour party even in your time as a member was still a reformist party and had a history of siding with the money men. What has changed? Surestart/new school buildings/minimum wage/saved the world banking system. All these have helped the working class but you and I know they had to dragged screaming to change it. Sitting on the side lines allows the Tories to proclaim popular support. God help us if Osborne is given the chance. VAT will quickly rise and employment law will be diluted asap so Cameron can drive down cost base lines for his crony CBI and CEO mates!

Believe me pcb, if I thought there was any chance of change in what time I have left I would re-engage tomorrow but I know there isn't. I am not nor have ever been "active" so to speak not in the labour party nor the CWU, but support financially and man picket lines, yes, but I am not an orator nor really a team player and never have been. I was a long distance runner, fencer, rock climber, sailor, and other things and have never slotted into a team - though I have played football, rugby and hockey but they didn't have the same interest for me. I am a solitary person.

:left: :left: You gullible pussy you, Blair was as bent as bent can be from the start. There was and is a cabal and the agenda is constant ,and you are correct it does not coincide with your real interests. Power and control ; conference no longer decides policy and the NEC or cabinet no longer decides implementation, Similarities :chuckle

Yes point taken B - though having seen the shambles the Tory years did to this country you have no idea how low a committed socialist like I was would stoop to get a Labour Party in power to reverse all the Tory legislation against unions etc etc etc - well when they were spouting the rhetoric about being the friend to business I foolishly believed it was merely a ploy to get in power before dropping the bombshells - rather like the call to IA last year and now the pennys' dropped. :Boo hoo!

this idea about needing to be on the inside of the party to change it, is quite frankly bollocks and you know it. the few decent Labour MPs out there are pushed to the side and marginalised. every Labour Government has been the same, its simple power corrupts. our democracy is a sham and until the vast majority of people awake from their slumber nothing much will really change whether it is blue , red or orange in charge. however, this isnt going to happen any day soon because we the people are happy to be brainwashed and rendered docile , more concerned with football , tits ,drugs etc etc.
