If 99% of members in your branch vote no then I'll give you everything I own! Thats the trouble with this is everything we say is just our 'opinions' based on small snippets of the people we know.

The ballot result will reveal the facts

Probably the most accurate post yet on how he vote will go. TBH whether you support the vote or not the only sure fire way of knowing for certain how the vote has gone is to wait for the scrutineers to announce the results.

Some people will always tell the person asking the question what they think they want to hear.
Some will always follow branch recommendations, and some will vote against Branch recommendations for personal reasons.
Some will always vote Yes for any proposal as long as its had such a recommendation from the PEC/Leaders.
Some will vote Yes just on the short term benefits.
Some will vote on the long term implications as they see it (good or bad)
Some will vote on the impact of their own pay packet.

However, if history is anything to go by then a significant % will decide not to vote and yet if they did their block vote could swing the result decisively in either direction.

And that's why it is important to spread the word far and wide, drivers to the depot, email, phone, office get the NO vote on the roll.

And indeed this will be a close vote
Thoses circumstances are? The gross mismanagement of the Company!!

Number 6, Who much does it cost to fund the pension deficit, created by that mismanagement???

The mismangement being the 13 year long pension holiday!!
Which they did not have any real chioce in doing so, due to the law of the land. The blame lays at the feet of Conservative and New Labour governments, nowhere else.

That said my understanding is RM could have kept the money going in and boosted benefits to maintain the funding balance.

They kept the money and did who knows what with it :no no

AFAIK Royal Mail did not keep it, when we were operating as a Government department (if that's the right term) I believe any profit went back to the treasury and RM had to apply to them if they wished to invest in any structural changes or improvements to the system, just like any other department.

we had our briefing today ..and man that just had to be the most depressing work time learning I have ever been to. 3pm finishes on Saturday, no maximum delivery span, no cap on D2Ds. but of course its the easy targets namely deliveries thatare getting hit once again. the rest of the network will find it an attractive offer in the short term, so Im afraid its looking like acomfortable YES vote probably 60-40 with only a two thirds voting turnout.

On the contrary. No-one will get warned or banned, just for disagreeing. We try to encourage everyone to take part in the debates. Otherwise, what's the point of having a discussion? :hmmmm
And as for people being threatened or abused. If that starts to happen, just let us know, and we'll help you. It's only when people resort to those types of methods, that they have any chance of warnings or bans.

Well RM managers like you don't usually bother with notice boards for that sort of thing do they.
actuall the pensions is a goverment task
But it was RM managers recieving vast bounuses that ruined the pension scheme, will they be handing back thier bounuses now that it's "a goverment task" as they failed in their responsabilities???
