Re: UNDERSTANDING THE AGREEMENT............
After reading my copy of the Courier today I'm even more confused as to why Royal Mail and the union think we should vote yes on this deal. We're told that this deal will proctect full time jobs yet in the Courier Mark Higson says "some
units will close and there will be fewer jobs" how is that protecting full time jobs?
Also what happend to Royal Mail's plans to be more family friendly? is working to 2:30pm or later on a Saturday more family friendly? if you have children and your "other half" works then the only chance you really get to have any family time with them is on the weekend.
This £20.60 (approx) that will be included in out wages they say it's a good thing because unlike door to door payments you will get it for 52 weeks of the year not the 48 weeks a year (depending on A/L or sick time) now that on it's own sounds like a good deal BUT for some people they will have their £12 shift allowance stopped meaning they will only be £8.60 a week better off and then you have the fiasco with door2doors. Here's just some figures I worked out based on the current pay system for a postie getting a £12 shift allowance and delivering to 400 houses.
SHIFT ALLOWANCE------------------------------------------------------£12x52=£624
Door2DOOR 1.67x400=£6.68x3(d2d items a week)=£20.04x48(weeks)=£961.92
TOTAL -------------------------------------------------------------------------£1585.29
So as you can see with shift allowance and D2D this equals a yearly pay of £1585.92 (before tax)
Under the deal that Royal Mail and the union want us to agree to the figures are like this:
SHIFT ALLOWANCE --------------------------------------------------£0.00
DOOR2DOOR ----------------------------------------------------------£0.00
The £20.60 week payment £20.60x52-------------------------------------£1071.20
So in the 1st year this postie will earn £514.72 per year LESS under the new agreement than they are getting paid now. Royal Mail and the union are saying it's a good deal because you're getting a pay rise but the pay rise has to be a rise over £514.72 per year BEFORE it even becomes the same wage as we're on now. This doesn't include the fact that we might have to deliver 6 d2d or more for no extra payment.

Re: UNDERSTANDING THE AGREEMENT............
The £26 week payment £26x52
That's £20.60 mate not £26.
20.60x52=1071.20
Sorry to make things even worse.

Re: UNDERSTANDING THE AGREEMENT............
Royal Fail can they be trusted, will they spin some rubbish to change the deal. And what is happening to our Pension. Didn't Mr Hayes "no deal until the pension is sorted", he aint delivered. We shouldn't be getting asked to vote until our pension is sorted, now it won't be until after the election.
This is why i'll be voting no. And why no one should be voting yes.
VOTE NO

Re: UNDERSTANDING THE AGREEMENT............
Please dont assume i am in anyway advocating the deal, i am just trying(probably badly) to correct some mathshorris_1uk wrote:

we only get paid for a maximum of 45 weeks d2d a year at the moment, 3 weeks xmas pressure and at least 4 weeks holiday
SHIFT ALLOWANCE------------------------------------------------------£12x52=£624
Door2DOOR 1.67x400=£6.68x3(d2d items a week)=£20.04x45(weeks)=£901.8
TOTAL -------------------------------------------------------------------------£1525.8
SHIFT ALLOWANCE --------------------------------------------------£0.00
DOOR2DOOR ----------------------------------------------------------£0.00
The £20.60 week payment £20.60x52-------------------------------------£1071.20
Difference £454.60 per year
Current rate of pay £347.61
Year 1 Pay rise 2% £354.56 per week 6.95 increase x52 weeks £361.40 equals loss of £93.20 in first year
Year 2 Pay Rise 1.5% £359.87 per week 5.32 increase x52 weeks £276.64 + yr 1 361.40 equals gain of £183.44 in year 2
So basically you will lose about 95 quid in the first year but gain more than double it back in the second, so in your case there will be a slight pay cut yr 1 but over 2 years it you will get more money
it would be quite interesting if someone were able to work out all the tipping points for part timers and produce a table for contract hours, ie 24 25 30hr contracts and the number of call points they would need to be above or below to be winners or losers, as at the moment there are lots of people saying everyone will lose out if they are part time, while some reps and doms are saying they wont, but if there was a poster on the notice board that could easily be read i think it would sway a lot of people the correct way to vote
oh and for the record,i'm on a 24 hour contract with a walk with 624 calls, you can work out where my vote stands

Re: UNDERSTANDING THE AGREEMENT............
Im 30 hours with 6 weeks leave (buy down of hours) and as far as figures on my payslip goI have no problem with the new supplement system. As a rep I do find it a little odd, trying to get delivery members to vote yes has been made much harder by the the supplement only being set at £20.60 to have gained wide spread support it needs to be at least £30 with RML putting new money into the supplement to achive that figure. I like the supplement system, but to sell such a system to the mbrs who are more interested in figures than the reasoning behind a supplement and no DTD payments is tricky to say the least.
