The amount of crap the reps have to put up with, I don't begrudge them the odd day-off to attend conferences!

What is the average age of the branch secretaries?

What is the average age of the branch committees?

Does this have anything to do with the ease with which our pension terms were changed?

We all know what age group has the voting and buying power in this country.

Majority of my BC are 30's and 40's

1 person in their 20's and a RM pensioner who is the retired members secretay and a fomer very very long serving IR rep at local level and Area Del rep level

Why the age query, shouldnt ability be the issue? A brain is a brain regardless of the body its housed in.

It was members of the letters secion commitee who are all IR reps along with the sectional (different from branch) secretary who also holds a IR rep post that went from my branch.

P.S

CWU TV were there :cool

PPPS

Im 35 but became active in the CWU at the age of 26 and have done continuous service ever since, at what point would you like me to step down from active service?

Well it won't be a question of stepping down will it, it will be a question of having nothing to represent.

Do you know BD that is a very very good idea - a workers association based on local needs without all the baggage that a national association brings with it. Now they could really take off - of course it would need political affiliation, treasurer, secretary, finance, preferential loans, expense accounts, and copious quantities of snake oil :Very Happy :Very Happy :Very Happy

The same as all the others Dave, Ray, Martin, and Bob explained it all then took questions from the floor. Personally I dont consider there to have been any hard sell just explantions and you either belive that the explanation is good enough or it isnt.

If you play nice I might share my notes with you in a day or two, thats if I can read my own handwriting :d'oh!

Big Daz,

I made the age query because members usually do what the branch recommends. If the decision makers in the branches are close to retirement they will be less effected by the pension changes and will suffer less. Also, this proposal includes some improved EVR terms to bribe the older generation.

What was the mood of the meeting?

The meeting was just like a mini conference.

Mood was absolutley fine, everyone was bright and happy. I belive many a rep met up with other reps they hadnt seen for a while, I myself met up with a fellow rep from a course that I did last summer.

I did learn that RML are tring to block VR for profssional drivers and engineers, Ray Ellis will be tackling RML on this

It is belived that the reason is due to cost.

I also learnt something about a certain poster on this site, but for now my lips are sealed except to the moderators and POSTMAN.

Now if youll excuse me a quick look around then I must do something with my notes and do some DTD calculations for every delivery duty in the D.O. Cant beat a bit of CWU homework :cool
